Udupi, Feb 4: St Mary’s Konkani Community (SMKC) Dubai, a benevolent association in the UAE, which has supported Konkani language and culture for the past 18 years of its existence, is now set to organize a Konkani musical extravaganza titled ‘Grand Konkan Showers–2019’, which is the 53rd musical nite of a popular Konkani composer and singer ‘Konkan Mannik’ and ‘Sangeet Sardar’ Wilson Olivera.
‘Grand Konkan Showers–2019’ will be held on Sunday March 3 at 5.30 pm at Christian Pre-University College Ground, opposite Lombard Memorial Hospital, Udupi.
This mega event will be a blend of many new compositions along with some old super hit songs on public demand of Konkani music icon -Wilson Olivera.
The 3 hours non-stop entertainment will consist of foot-tapping songs of Wilson Olivera performed by his prominent team of highly talented and popular singers along with scintillating dances from the evergreen ‘Nach Sobhann’. Rib-tickling comedy from the popular ‘The Expressions’ would add spice to the event. Ronald Olivera, an internationally admired public speaker, motivational coach and a corporate trainer, is the Master of Ceremony for this musical nite.
Members of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Udupi Diocese, under the leadership of president, Dion D’Souza and spiritual guidance of Bishop of Udupi Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Fr Denis D’Sa and many like-minded priests has taken a challenge of gathering the record 10,000 crowd to this mega event and the collection will be utilized for the Udupi diocesan projects. SMKC Dubai, having a vast experience in organizing several shows both in Dubai and India has said that show will start sharp at 5.30 pm at Christian Pre-University College Ground, opposite Lombard Memorial Hospital, Udupi, on Sunday March 3.
Entertainment has always been an integral part of Wilson Olivera’s nites. Wilson Olivera’s in-depth compositions combined with harmonious melodies create nothing but ecstatic moments for one and all.
Wilson Olivera nites have always been houseful. This fact is all more evident through his series of hit musical extravaganzas held at different venues across the length and breadth of India and in different regions of the Gulf.
Wilson Olivera has seven super hit music albums to his credit and contributed his compositions to hit Konkani movie ‘Noshibacho Khell’and also hosted 52 successful musical shows at Mangaluru, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman etc.
Olivera has also been bestowed with titles 'Konkan Mannik' and ‘Konkan Sardar’ and has been awarded with the prestigious, 'Konkani Kala Samaj Puraskar' in 1995, 'Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Award' in 2003, 'Divo Sahitya Puraskar' in 2008 and ‘Sandesha Music Award' in 2018.
Ronald Olivera, the music maestro’s younger brother, is sure to win the hearts of the audience with his unique signature style when he anchors this show. In addition to winning several international and Gulf level awards in Public speaking, Ronald Olivera has a special distinction of anchoring the Musical shows of most of the Konkani singers/artistes such as the legendary Konkan Kogull late Wilfy Rebimbus, Henry D’Souza, Melwyn Peris, Wilson Olivera, Claud D’Souza, Mickmax, Maxim Pereira, Lancy Moras, Esther Noronha and Goan Nightingale Lorna. He has also made his unique mark by anchoring the shows of many Indian artists such as Kottayam Nazir, Mohammad Aslam, Nadarsha, S Janaki, and many others.
The genius music director Roshan D’Souza- Angelore, will make this event a perfect amalgamation of mesmerizing music for Wilson Olivera’s compositions. Having directed music for the Konkani film “Noshibacho Khell” and several musical shows of Olivera, he has already proved a mark in this arena with music arrangements for most Konkani artistes and also been handed out with Global Konkani Music Awards for his work.
Along with Wilson, the man of the show himself, the troupe have renowned singers Robin Sequeira, Ashwin D’Costa, Prashanth Pinto, Babita Pinto, Shilpa Cutinha, Zeena Pereira and Carol Sequeira who are well-known in the Konkani world of music and who with their harmonious voices have been contributing factors in the success of Wilson's music albums and shows. Off-Pitch troupe will provide backing vocals.
This musical nite will also witness talented dance group “Nach Sobhann” which was established in 1989 and has performed in more than 1000 shows till date.
When the comedy-couple Alwyn-Sujatha Andrade along with Steeven Lewis Matpady from team ‘The Expressions’ will create laughter riot with their comedy skits. ‘The Expressions’ is a winner of many TV and other comedy realty shows, including 2nd runners up in daijiworld’s “YeyaHasoya”for two consecutive years.
