Bengaluru: 80-year-old woman gang raped in cemetery, dies

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Feb 4: In a barbaric act, a youth and his friends gang raped an 80-year-old woman who was working as gatekeeper of a cemetery in the town. This inhuman incident occurred at NGR Layout of Bommanahalli in the city.

Yellamma (80), a resident of NGR Layout of Bommanahalli is the hapless victim who bled to death in this gruesome incident. Harish (19), who is the main culprit of the act is taken into custody by the Bommanahalli police. The cops are on the hunt for others who are absconding.

Yellamma, who was grieviously injured in the act, was admitted to a hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries later.

As per the details available, Yellamma, who was working as a gatekeeper of the cemetry at NGR Extension of Roopena Agrahara in the city used to live in a room in the cemetery itself. The accused Harish and some of his friends went to the room of Yellamma on the evening of Saturday, February 2. They smashed her face with a wooden log and bit her chest. In addition, they injured and private part and raped her.

A lady who was grazing sheep in the cemetery heard a scream from the room of Yellamma. When she ran towards the room, she saw elderly Yellamma lying in a pool of blood. The shepherdess saw Harish and his friends inside the room. She ran out of fear and informed the same to the locals and the daughter of the elderly woman. As the locals arrived on the scene of the incident, the culprits made good their escape.

Bommanhalli police station personnel who arrived on the spot after getting information from the locals got Yellamma admitted to the hospital. However, she breathed her last after some time.

A complaint in this regard is filed by the relatives of the deceased woman in the Bommanahalli police station. The police who have registered a case have taken the prime accused Harish in custody and searching for the other members of the gang.

This case does deserve investigations. It is unfortunate that in the nation we live today respect of women reduced to none.
In Surat Prime Minister Modi told the crowd, these days rapist gets hanged in three to 30 days of conviction.
If Union Minister for Skill Ananth Kumar is real Hindu then he should take up this case and chop the hands of a rapist and hang them in public to keep the words of his own Prime Minister.

    RIP. Amma.

Just hang or shoot those who involved in this act before they rape and kill anyone else. They are inhuman. Capital punishment is the right punishment for them. They dono't deserve to live in this world. These things happen only in a lawless country. Guess where our country stands today in terms of protection and freedom.

From cradle baby to old woman...from fully covered to provocatively dressed...irrespective of gender...they are raped.
Am repeating my comment...Unless few rapists are short dead in public with live telecast these things may not stop.
So many Nirbhaya's faced the same fate... wonder what we are waiting for..
Is there nobody in the judicial system to ensure these rape cases are fast tracked and the culprit killed in public.

And by the way the name of the main accused is Harish and that of the victim is Yellamma. You know what I mean right?

Hang these b.....ds in public and keep their body there for one day to give lesson to such preverts and criminals. No Lawyer should represent these criminals and court should give final judgement immediately. Let them taste the hardness of death. I culd not even guess how this old lady faced her death. God bless her.
Our Central |Govt is interested in bringing law on necessary issues but keeping quite on important issues like this. Where is our central Law Mi9nister sleeping. He is very much interested in busy in introducing unnecessary bills. He is very much interested in favoring Muslim Ladies but not interested in giving justice to raped / murdered ladies. Is he working for self benefit. He should take responsibility for not providing justice to women and should resign immediately. He has no moral right to continue in office.

Yuck... those people..... they are not even animals.... why arrest them, hand over them to the locals... they have to be taught a lesson.. they should understand what pain is.....

we as parents also have faults... we do not educate our sons about how to respect a women and elders.... when ever they speak rude about any elderly person or about anyone... whatever anger we as a family might have on that person... but we should not allow our kids to disrespect the other person.... we should not allow our kids to speak rudely or bad about other person...

In hinduism we do not have a particular place were we can be taught all these and brushed or brainwash young kids...we have so mny temples... the priests there are just thinking of minting money.... if they could organise classes ot preaching early morning where which should be done compulsory to every one and if they would teach the moral values which exists in our holy books... then i think we would not have seen such acts or at least less of such acts..

Absolutely speechless Mr.John, This is the perversion of the highest order. Scary that we are living in a society where neither a 6 months old infant nor a 80 year old granny may be brutalized in a most in human way. Society should come out strongly cutting across religion, belief & party lines in not only condemning (which sounds hollow these days) crimes of such proportions but press for judicial reforms of the nature practiced in countries where fear of the law & punishment are followed. It's not that such people do not exist in those countries. It's the consequences of one's actions that deter the criminals from even thinking about such things.
Pray for this ladies soul to rest in eternal peace where such unholy minds just don't exist.
