Mangalore: DC Suspends Three Officials over Alleged Land Scam

Mangalore, Jan 24: "Criminal cases have been filed against three persons who created fake records and swindled 29.5 acres of government land in eight separate cases in Manjanady village," revealed Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner Ponnuraj, speaking at a press conference here on Friday January 23.
The accused have been identified as Abubakkar Natekal, Ibrahim and Guruvappa Poojary and the identity of other persons involved with the scam will be established soon, he said.
The negligence and collaboration of the government officials in this illegal act has been found during the investigations. Strict action and criminal cases will be initiated against the guilty officials. Three government employees have been suspended for their connivance in the crime, said Ponnuraj.
Apart from Manjanady, such acts have also been found to have been committed in various other places. A special team is being formed for conducting impartial investigation into this issue, he revealed.
"The investigation has not been a smooth affair, as old files since the year 1960 have not been preserved systematically. Investigation of each file requires detailed study of three to four documents, he explained.
Prabhakar Sharma, headquarters assistant in the DC office, Trilokchandra, probationary IAS officer, Raju Mogaveera, tashildhar and Vijaya Kumari Shenoy, deputy director, food and civil supplies department were present on the occasion.
