Height of shamelessness, irresponsibility: BJP on Rahul’s claim against PM

New Delhi, Feb 12 (PTI): The BJP on Tuesday dismissed Rahul Gandhi's allegations against Narendra Modi on the Rafale jet deal as height of shamelessness and irresponsibility, and asserted that the e-mail he cited to criticise the prime minister referred to some chopper deal and not the purchase of the fighter aircraft.

Senior party leader and Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also put Airbus, whose internal e-mail was cited by the Congress president, in a dock, saying the European aircraft manufacturer is under a needle of suspicion in deals finalised during the previous Congress-led government.

He asked Gandhi to answer how he got hold of the company's internal communication and accused him of acting as a "lobbyist" of foreign firms.

Speaking to reporters soon after Gandhi's press conference, Prasad also took strong exception to the Congress leader charging Modi with "treason".

The BJP leader said his party had serious differences with former prime ministers, who came from the Gandhi family, over several "murky" defence deals signed during their term but never accused them of treason.

"He (Rahul Gandhi) has thrown muck at his own face by abusing our honest prime minister... We will expose his lies before the public," he said.

Earlier Tuesday, Gandhi accused Modi of acting as a "middleman" of Anil Ambani in the Rafale jet deal, as he cited the e-mail to claim the businessman was aware of the MoU before India and France signed it. He also accused Modi of "treason".

OK, let's for while ignore what Rahul says, what's BJP leadership's response to N Ram's revelation in The Hindu that the Anti corruption clause was deleted from the deal at the last minute? Same N Ram had exposed Bofors. And what about Indian Express's claim today that Anil Ambani's meeting with Dassault personnel week before Modi finalized Rafale deal?

    Sir,
    heres the clarification you wanted.
"Rafale is not the first Inter Governmental Agreement India has signed, before this such deals were signed with Russia and USA. And similar waivers were granted in those agreements too.
The deal for Sukhoi jet that India signed with Russia had also waived the bank guarantee and anti-corruption clause, which was signed by Congress government"
Coming to the anti-corruption clause, that is applicable for a direct deal with private companies only, where there are possibilities of bribes and middleman. In Inter Governmental Agreements, such clauses are waived as per the provisions of DPP.
The DPP 2013, which was prepared during the UPA government, clearly states that in case of Inter-Governmental Agreements, Standard Procurement Procedure and Standard Contract Document will not apply and such deals will be done on mutually agreed terms of both the countries. Therefore, the government to government deal of the Rafale jet also involved changes in certain provisions of DPP, which was duly approved by the Defence Acquisition Council, the highest body supervising defence acquisitions in the country.

After his Kailash yatraa and pouring milk water etc on Shiv Lings , Rahul had sung about 'Love Politics'.
'Wo Krodh karte Hain, Hum Pyaar Karte Hain' he kept on saying.
He had semblance of balance and he always referred to the PM as Modiji...Decency in language, addressing he had maintained and was scoring.
    Alas! It was short lived.
Somebody has advised him to be aggressive but has not advised him how!!
"Tum Kuch bhi Bolo,Lekin Jor se Bholo" seems to have been the advice.
So he has gone on rattling...from Comic to the Absurd....
It is obvious that he is being coached to speak...and wrongly at that...
Accusing the PM of our country of treason, his supporting parties calling the PM anti national are heights...Heights of Despair...!!
    The whole country is watching...
Last time Mani was the culprit...remember?
