This incident recalls me of a incident I faced in a city bus in Mangaluru. Two young boys in their early twenty's (may be) were sitting on seats allocated for senior citizens. MY both hands were painful and i am a senior citizen. As there is no other place to sit i requested them to vacate a seat showing the label above the seat. They refused to get up. When i asked conductor he said it is not his problem. This youngster still didnot get up saying whatever your problem is not ours and we will not get up. Later when he got down he showed his middle finger. This is replica of our society. Please parents and schools inflict humanity in youngsters or else i donot know where our country is leading to???

    Good Day to Eva.

Very sad to hear this incident. I am also a senior citizen and you being a lady, I can understand very well your pain. Though, it takes some time, you would have really taken the conductor as well the rogue boys into task. First of all, why you did not take the help of other passengers in the bus immediately and later to complaint to the appropriate authorities about the particular bus, conductor etc?

The boys are not only rude , inhuman and also showing the middle finger to a senior citizen! I simply can not digest this....

    Francis,
While I sympathise with Madam Eva, it is very common experience of most senior citizens who use the public transport here in Mangalore and Udipi. I myself being a senior citizen have gone through similar experience many times. In one incident a very senior aged Nun got into the bus I was travelling and she was struggling but No younger passengers occupants of Ladies as well as those occupants of seats meant for senior citizens were ready to offer her the seat. Having seen the situation for a minute or two I offered my seat to her and I travelled standing for almost 45 minutes. Unlike Mumbai BEST conductors and general public here in Mangalore and Udipi no one cares for Senior Citizens in applying the rules framed by the government.

In this case, I am with the foreigner. Good job, lady, wish you less harassment but more pleasant days in my country. Our youth should change their mindset that the fairer skinned women are free to use.
