Beltangady, Jan 28: A prize distribution function relating to the state-level 'Anche-Kuncha' painting contest and other competitions on moral-value-based books was held at the Amrutavarshini auditorium of Dharmasthala near here, on Tuesday January 27.
Speaking after distributing the prizes, ace cricketer Anil Kumble promised to provide guidance to the students, if the schools of the state encourage the students towards playing cricket.
Children's ability must not be kept confined for studies alone. The parents must encourage them to display their talent in the fields of their interest. Proper encouragement is necessary to bring out every hidden talent, Kumble stressed.
Presiding over the function, Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade felicitated Anil Kumble for his outstanding contribution to the field of Cricket.
The government must honour Anil Kumble and confer the title, 'Karnataka Ratna' on him for his extraordinary achievements, demanded Heggade, speaking on the occasion.
B Sitaram Tolpadittaya welcomed the gathering. M S Nagaraj Rao, Radhakrishna Prabhu, I Shashikant Jain, Ashok Barkur and Prakash Moodittaya compered various programmes on the occasion.
Dr D Veerendra Heggade's wife Hemavati Heggade, D Harshendra Kumar, Chetana Kumble and Shreyas were present.
