Mangalore, Jan 29: The Akhila Bharata Vidyarthi Parishat (ABVP) on Saturday January 31 urged the district administration to withdraw the licenses of pubs in the city.
Staging a protest against pub culture and attack on women, in front of the district commissioner’s (DC) office, they urged stern action against the assaulters. They also said that pub culture is against Indian society and it has seriously-affected the studying habits of students in the city.
Condemning the attack on women at the pub on Saturday January 24, demonstrators demanded the administration impose control over the media for projecting the city in a bad light nationally by exaggerating the pub incident.
Earlier, demonstrators took out a protest march from the taluk office to the DC office. State executive member Srinidhi Hegde, Akshata, state secretary, and Ravichandra P M were present on the occasion.
