Udupi: Venkata-Krishna Nityotsava Inaugurated

Udupi, Feb 1: The 'Venkata-Krishna Nityotsava' programme being held under the aegis of Paryaya Puttige Math in association with Tirupati Tirumala Devastana Trust was inaugurated on Saturday, January 31 at the Rajangan of Sri Krishna Math here.
Tirumala Tirupati Temple Board of Trustees chairman D K Adikeshavulu Naidu inaugurated the programme. Speaking on the occasion, Adikeshavulu explained, that Tirumala temple will extend assistance to Sri Krishna Math for building the planned Kalyana Mantap, which will also have residential facility. Tirumala temple has been providing food to the devotees free of cost, and on an average, 50,000 people partake food there. With the help of the cow shelter established by the temple there, 1,500 devotees are being provided with milk free of cost at present. In February, the temple will be setting up a Cow Conservation Centre in 700 acres of land in a place located 60 kms away from the temple town of Tirumala. Once that centre starts functioning, the Trust would be able to set aside 6,000 litres of milk for devotees on a day-to-day basis, he explained.
Briefing further on the Temple Trust activities, Adikeshavulu said, that it has been extending monetary assistance for the development and renovation of temples. Towards creating awareness about righteousness, it has been taking up various activities through the Dasa Literature Project. As part of this project, daily Bhajan programme by troupes in Udupi is being arranged, he narrated.
Paryaya Puttige Math Swamiji Sri Sugunendrateerta, Shirur Sri Lakshmivarateerta Swamiji, Bheemanakatte Sri Raghumanyateerta Swamiji, Kaniyoor Math Sri Vidyavallabhateerta Swamiji, Dasa Literature Project special officer Anandateertachar Pagadala, Badagubettu Cooperative Society director Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Sudhakar Shetty of Mumbai Sahana Builders and Melkote Laxmi Tatacharya were present.
Paryaya Sri Sugunendrateerta Swamiji conferred the 'Venkata-Krishnanugraha' award on Adikeshavulu.
Gopalacharya of Paryaya Math welcomed and proposed vote of thanks.
