Mangalore: Lancy D'Souza Murder Case - Court Acquits Accused

Mangalore, Feb 2: The fast track court here has acquitted all the seven accused in the murder of rickshaw driver Lancy D’Souza, a resident of Nityadarnagar, Tokkottu.
Lancy was brutally murdered by unknown assailants on March 4, 2008, at Gandibagilu, near Nityadar Nagar.
Ullal–Mastikatte residents Hasainar and Mohammed Sadiq, K C Road resident Mohammed Hanif, Ullal residents Imran and Sadiq alias Chota Sadiq, Mukkacheri resident Rizwan and Kumpala resident Fayaz, have been acquitted by the court.

It was alleged that Lancy was hacked to death by these people in a case of mistaken identity, as their intention was to slay a Hindu autorickshaw driver due to some enmity.
Judge A Manjunath giving his judgment said the prosecution had failed to prove the case, as some of the witnesses turned hostile during the hearing.
Lawyers Belvai Arun Bangera and Arun Shetty, B C Road, contested on behalf of the defendants.
