Udupi: Poornima Shenoy crowned winner of 'Voice of Karavali season-3’

Udupi, Feb 25: Poornima Shenoy Naykanakatte from Byndoor was crowned the winner of 'Voice of Karavali-2019, season-3' and awarded the title trophy with Rs 15,000, a certificate and a silver coin. The show’s grand finale was held at Nirmala High School ground here on Sunday, February 24.

'Voice of Karavali’, one of the most successful singing reality shows in the coastal belt, was organised by Rotary Brahmavar in association with Being Social, and presented by Anjali Water Park.

As many as 14 contestants entered the semi final round. Out of them, six participants earned an opportunity to enter the grand finale. One contestant was not able to attend the competition due to health reasons.

Poornima sung 'Jab deep jale aana, jab shaam dhale aana’ from the movie 'Chitchor' and successfully impressed the judges and audience’s hearts. In the first round, she sang Kannada song ‘Bandha bandha megharaja namma oora kerege’ from the movie ‘Sipayi’.

The singing reality show was judged by two eminent music directors, namely Yashwanth Acharya and music technician Sunad Goutham. The judges gave quality and positive comments to boost the contestants’ confidence.

The top six contestants gave one another a tough fight. Each one opted to sing different songs, according to their choice and comfort.

Anjana Suresh from Mangaluru emerged the runner up of the show. She sung Kannada song 'Nannedeya kogileya', third place winner Megha Pai from Mangaluru sung Karnatak classic 'Bavayami Nadagopuram', fourth place winner Greeshma sang Hindi song 'Kuhu kuhu koyaliya', fifth place winner Sudheer Shetty Kokkarne impressed the audience by singing 'Lali Suvvali, Hadella' Lali from the movie ‘Jodi Hakki’ and the sixth place winner Deepika Ballal sang the song 'Kehana he kya'.

The second, third, fourth and fifth place winners received cash prize money, Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 cash, trophy, certificate and silver coin respectively. All the final contestants were awarded Rs 1,000 cash prize too.

Besides this, the organiser made the audience to involve in the show by organising competitions for them and offered attractive prizes for the winners. Hundreds of people witnessed the musical extravaganza. It was a day to remember for music lovers.

Title winner Poornima sharing her happiness with Daijiworld and said, “I happy that I won this singing reality show. I took part in the auditions with no expectations and now I have reached here. I bagged this title due to the grace of God and my family’s support. I am a home maker and my husband supported me all throughout my musical journey. I used to sing in PU days. I continued to do so after my marriage. I am an orchestra singer too. I am not from music background, but learnt things watching YouTube and listening to music.”

There was a short formal stage function in the midst of the event. The programme was inaugurated by Ravi Prakash by lighting the lamp.

Inaugurating the event, Ravi Prakash, owner of Anjali Water Park, said, “I appreciate the organisers for organising this programme. A good platform has been provided for emerging singers. Rotary Brahmavar is organising medical campaign for patients suffering from mental disabilities since many years, without any expectations. Let it continue such good works in future.”

Abhinandan Shetty, Rotary Governor said, “There are standard and dynamic participants here. It is a very fantastic programme. Each participant is giving their best in their performances.”

Arun Kumar, zonal lieutenant, said, “The main purpose of this programme is to provide a platform for rural talents and get them to the main stream.”

Subbanna Pai, assistant governor, Rotary, spoke on the occasion.

Sudheer Kumar Shetty, president of Rotary Brahmavar, welcomed the gathering. Sudheer Poojary, secretary, rendered the vote of thanks. Alwyn Andrade compered the stage programme.

Yashwanth Acharya said, “The first round was very tough. Selecting the top six was a tough task. We considered a few points while taking decisions. Many talents have come up due to this stage.”

Another judge Sunad Goutham said, “It is not important that who will win, but participation is important. Do not give up singing or learning music. It must go on.”

'Voice of Karavali season-1’ winner Rajath Mayya and second season contestant Pallavi also joined the show and entertained the gathering.

Rotary Brahmavar felicitated B S Ram Shetty, Harady as the ‘Person of the year 2019’ recognising his remarkable achievements in theatre and sports field.

A very dynamic radio and video jockey Avinash Kamath entertained people with his funny and lively anchoring.
