Kasargod, Feb 4: The city police have identified the whereabouts of the elderly couple, whose bodies were found under the bridge near Pallanji of Adoor near here.
The couple is identified as Thangacchan alias George (79) and his wife Ponnamma (60), residents of Thodupuzha of Idukki district of Kerala state.
According to the information given by locals, police visited the spot where the bodies were found and conducted spot investigation. It is said that the couple was living in a house in Mavungal of Kanhangad near here since some days.
Around 3 pm on Saturday, the locals had seen the couple walking towards Pallanji after getting down from the bus at Beturupare. A bottle of poison and water are found near the bodies. The exact reason for this extreme step taken by the couple is not known. The bodies are kept in the mortuary of the Kasargod general hospital.
The police have informed that more details will be available only after their relatives arrive to the city to collect their mortal remains.
