SC ousts AAP's Sanjay Singh from arguing plea for the recall of Rafale verdict

New Delhi, March 6 (IANS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday said it would not allow Aam Admi Party's lawmaker Sanjay Singh to address the court on a plea seeking a review of the December 14 Rafale judgement, as it took exception to some of the comments made by him about the top court.

The bench of Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice K.M. Joseph inquired about Sanjay Singh and senior counsel Sanjay Hegde said that he represented him.

CJI Gogoi, taking exception to certain comments made by Sanjay Singh about the top court relating to Rafale deal, told Hegde that his client would not be allowed to argue the review plea.

However, later in the course of the hearing, CJI Gogoi indicated that they may appoint an amicus curiae to address the court on the review plea by Sanjay Singh.

"We might do so in Sanjay Singh's case", CJI Gogoi said in the course of the hearing of the main matter when he referred to instances where the court had held that cause being espoused in the PIL is good and had appointed amicus curiae and hear the matter.
