Mangaluru: Inmates clash at district jail, one suffers serious injuries

Mangaluru, Mar 7: An accused arrested and remanded under POCSO case, was attacked at the district jail here on Thursday, March 7.

According to sources, another inmate Mohamed Afeez along with other inmates Jeetu Singh, Mohammed Aasif and Umar Farroq attacked Aklasuddin Burbhuia in the morning. The jail staff intervened and rescued him from the hands of the attackers.

Aklasuddin, who suffered seriosu injuries on head and back, was immediately rushed to Wenlock Hospital by the jail police.

It is learnt that a few days back, Aklasuddin was arrested by Mangaluru North police under POCSO act. Mohamed Afeez, who led the attack, is the relative of the victim involved in the case registered under POCSO Act. 

Security has been tightened inside the jail after the incident.

    Mangaluru Jail is a notorious crime happening place for a long time. Jail authorities have failed miserably.

    Each time an incident is reported they say security has been tightened. But it is the same old story.

    from outside jail security is perfect but inside the jail helping the criminal by giving mobile phone and drugs and all if this stop then can be OK

    With the kind of hatred that is built up between communities, jail is a scary place. The jail administration bears the brunt of politicians karma.
