Mangaluru, Mar 7: The Brahmakalashotsava of the 1700-year-old, historical Sri Rajarajeshwari Temple of Polali near here began on Monday, March 4.

Scores of devotees are thronging the temple to partake in the celebrations, which also includes variety entertainment programme in the evenings.

On Wednesday, March 6, third day of the celebrations that will go on till March 13, several traditional rituals like Homa, Bimbashuddi, Dwarashanti, Ankura Pooja, Durga Pooja, Kundashuddadi and Mahapooja were held. 

The various items like Moga, Kadsale, Mukawada and idol of Kodamanithaya Daiva were handed over to the temple by the Ulipadiguthu.

On the Vadanashree Durgaparameshwari dais, Saxophone performance by Aryabhat award winner Megha Saligrama and team, which was held in the morning on Wednesday, entertained the devotees. In the afternoon Bharatanatyam performance was presented by Shivakam Bengaluru team. Athreyi Krishna Karkala played Carnatic music and Yakshagana was presented by Ashwini Kundadakuli.

On the evening, Fayaz Khan and team from Bengaluru presented Hindustani music, which was viewed by thousands of devotees. A dance musical performance by Nritya Niketana Kodavoor directed by Vidwan Sudhir Rao enthralled the audience in the night. From 10 pm, Yakshagana was presented by Sri Bhagavati Theeya Samiti of Polali.
