Mangaluru: Swachh Survekshan - Ullal placed seventh in state in cleanliness

Mangaluru, Mar 8: In the 'Swachh Survekshan - 2019' conducted by the department of urban development of the union government, Ullal municipality has been ranked seventh in Karnataka among urban local bodies with less than one lac population. As far as Dakshina Kannada district is concerned, it tops the ranking list.

'Swachh Survekshan - 2019' survey was conducted at national level under four categories. A total of 5,000 points were allotted for urban bodies based on cleanliness parameters. In these four categories, Ullal secured 1,037 out of 1,250 points in direct observation, 369 out of 1,250 under service level progress, 838 out of 1,250 under citizens’ feedback, and 150 out of 1,250 under certification. It got a total of 2,393 points out of 5,000.

Among 1,118 urban local bodies in the south zone, Ullal got 41st place, and seventh among 253 local bodies in the state, said municipal commissioner of Ullal municipality, Vani Alva, in a release.
