Moodbidri/Kadaba, Mar 9: State revenue minister, R V Deshpande, inaugurated Moodbidri taluk on Friday March 8, and thus fulfilled a long-cherished dream of the people of this region. He also laid the foundation stone for the mini Vidhana Soudha being built at Moodbidri at a cost of ten crore rupees.

The inaugural was held at Padmavati Kalamandir. Addressing the gathering, Deshpande said that the funds for mini Vidhana Soudha have already been set aside and asked the deputy commissioner to call for tenders and complete work on the construction of the mini Vidhana Soudha at the earliest.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minster, U T Khader, said that the government has implied 14 rules for land conversion, and reduced it to three rules. He asked the people to strictly abide by these conditions. "With the segregation of taluks, works can move faster. I request the minister to carve out Dharmasthala taluk separately from Beltangady in the coming days," he stated.

When the issue of shortage of staff in the office of the tahsildar, sub-registrar's office etc were brought to the notice of the minister, he asked the deputy commissioner to look into the matter.

MLA, Umanath Kotian, who presided, asked the minister to see that the issue of shortage of staff in government offices is addressed at the earliest and to open remaining offices like Agricultural Produce Market Committee yard at the earliest.

On this occasion, former ministers, K Amarnath Shetty and Abhay Chandra Jain, who had put in lot of work towards making this taluk a reality, were feted. MLC, Ivan D'Souza, K Harish Kumar, deputy commissioner, Sasikanth Senthil, taluk panchayat president, Mohammed Monu, municipal president, Harinakshi Suvarna and others were present.

Kadaba

Revenue minister, R V Deshpande, who inaugurated the new Kadaba tlauk on Friday evening, addressing a meeting held at Anugraha hall here, said that with the inauguration of Kadaba taluk, a long-pending demand of the people has been met. He promised that the government will work honestly to implement various things associated with the taluk, without restricting itself to just inaugurating the taluk.

MLC, Kota Srinivas Poojary, noted that when BJP government was in office, Jagadish Shettar had announced Kadaba as a separate taluk and set aside two crore rupees grant. The next government failed to take ahead the proposal, he pointed out.

Sullia MLA, S Angara, who presided, said that although he is happy at the creation of the new taluk, he would be genuinely happy only when all the infrastructure is provided and suitable grants are sanctioned for the taluk headquarters to become fully functional.

Dakshina Kannada zilla panchayat president, Meenakshi Shantigodu, and member, P P Verghese, wished the new taluk well. MLA, Ivan D'Souza, MLA, Sanjeev Matandoor, MLA, Harish Kumar, taluk panchayat president, Radhakrishna Borkar, former minister, Ramanath Rai, former MLA, Shakuntala Shetty, deputy commissioner, Dr Sasikanth Senthil and several others were present. Inauguration of new taluks, districts or states does not benefit the people it benefits the politicians and their supporters, the funds allotted for construction and development go into their pockets, as I said earlier all politicians are crooks they have come to make money not to do social service. If not see the state of mangalore city, locals have to go to Bangalore or Bombay for jobs.
