Dubai: Pre- Valentine’s Day Ball for a Noble Cause
By Rajesh Sequeira Daijiworld Media Network - Dubai
Dubai, Feb 15: With the backdrop of bitter and unfortunate turn of events back home in India, there was something to rejoice in Dubai on Valentine’s Day. It was a Valentine’s Day eve with a difference. Cynthia Fernandes, a well known social worker based in Dubai organized a pre Valentine’s Day ball at the Royal Heritage Restaurant, Bur Dubai. The event was in support of raising funds to donate a wheel chair to the 20 year old Carl who ended up as a quadriplegic (paralysed chest below) following an unfortunate accident in Dubai in October 2007. He was treated in India for six months for C6 spine injury with vigorous physiotherapy. He is now in Dubai completely dependent on a caretaker for his daily routine.
Speaking to Daijiworld.com Cynthia said, “I am extremely happy that I got a very good response from my network. People from all the communities came forward with a helping hand .The funds raised would be donated to Carl to buy a wheel chair. ”
Those who would like to help can contact: Jennifer Noronha, (mother of Carl) mobile : 00 971 (0)50-3409010, email : jennifer_noronha@hotmail
Hats off to you Cynthia - May you be blessed over and over and over and over... Love and Prayers to Carl Noronha & family.
Accolades to Cynthia once again, on a job well done. I do hope our small and sincere monetary contribution from the MOMS group in Sharjah, went a long way in aiding a good cause.
Looking at the above pictures I feel very guilty for not attending the party. Cynthia's hard work should always be appreciated.God bless
