Bangalore: Ram Sene men to burn pink chaddis

Times of India

Bangalore / Hubli, Feb 16: The pink chaddis that became tools of non-violent resistance against moral policing will soon be burnt. The Sri Ram Sene wants to burn these  embarrassing Valentine's Day gifts at a public place on Monday.

"Some of our members are still in police custody. We will organize a public event once all are out," Sene spokesman Krishna Gandaghalekar said on Sunday. "Sending these chaddis to the leader of a patriotic organization is like insulting him. We will give a fitting reply by burning them."

Gandaghalekar expects Sene leader Pramod Mutalik, now in the custody of the Gulbarga police, to be released by then and lead the protest.

The Sene office remained locked for the third day on Sunday and no one could receive parcels of chaddis which were still coming in.

"Some parcels should be pending with courier companies. We will burn them too," Gandaghalekar said.

The Sene has changed its plans about the underwear three times in the last few days. First its leaders said these would be sent to an orphanage.

Later, they said the parcels would be returned to the parents of the girls who had sent them. Then they said the parcels would be publicly auctioned. But on Sunday, they confirmed they'll burn them.

Meanwhile, stung by the bad press that his government got over the last few weeks on moral policing, Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa gave vent to his displeasure at a public function on Sunday. "Is it a crime to talk about religion? Is it a crime to infuse patriotism in young minds?" he asked, while addressing a function of Sri Degula Mutt of Kanakapura in Ramnagaram district.

Mr. Srinivas, Can I ask do you know what exactly "waste" means, your loving SRS Bhajarang dal they are spoiling the name of Our God and giving free publicity for other religions and freely promoting other religions. Instead of this let these goons of SRS and Bhajarangi's go to the villages, remote areas of the countrys, educate the people about the culture (before doing so let them learn it). Then I and we Indian Hindus will support these goondas.

Shrinivas, you call it a national waste. Wasters do go on rampage in the city, they do not afflict pain on others, they do extreme acts in the name of religion. You should be educated in basic human tenets in the first place to understand what being human is.

I condemn SRS act on V day and other illegal acts. Is burning petrol in your bikes in the name of protest not a waste. I do not understand which jungle you guys come from utterly uncivilised and uncultured.

How do you intend to save our culture, when you know no what does our culture mean. I guess many of your goons go to liquor shop or toddy shops prior to going on protest. You have affected the business in our region. MNCs will think 100 times prior to setting up companies here. Live and let live.

Burning the chaddis in the public is dangerous and enviornmentally hazardous. Pls. burn these chaddis in your homes, adding a little ghee to purify those precious gifts offered to the Precious Hindu Leaders.

I am very proud of the girls who dare to send the chaddies to Muthalik. Burning is secondary but sending the chaddies with wordings shows the girls are capable of handling any situation bravely. Well done girls. BJP government is supporting hindutva. Our CM wants to wipe out the other religion from India. But CM you can't do that. Its our birth place and you dont have any rights to wipe out any other religion from India. India is a secular country and you have to follow the understand before taking any steps.

If Valentine day is spoiling our youths then what Rakhi Bandan means. Why everyday many girls have been raped and insulted in our society. Where is Raksha for girls. Common Yeddi answer me.

Mr.yeddyurappa," its not a crime to talk about religion... its not crime to infuse patriotism in young minds." But 1) dividing the people in the name of religion is crime. 2) Attacking women in the name of indian culture is crime 3)Creating fear in the minds of people is Crime.

Hope you will understand what is crime? Cant you see how was Mangalore 3 to 4 years back and now see what you and your senas have made it now.. Mr.Yeddi, you have taken the peace of Mangalore You have taken the people's freedom in Mangalore.....is this not a crime?

Does it occur to these so-called patriots that they are being watched doing childish, idiotic and economically dangerous activities by prospective business partners from various countries. In these low times these Senes spell bad news for national business.
