Mangalorean Boy Allister Dylan D’Silva Wins Sastra Pratibha Award

Abu Dhabi, Feb. 16: Mangalorean Boy Allister Dylan D Silva, student of Abu Dhabi Indian School, studying in Grade 12 has won the Sastra Pratibha Contest 2008.
Science India Forum, UAE (SIF-UAE) in association with Vijnana Bharati, India and supported by the Embassy of India, UAE conducted the Second Sastra Pratibha Contest on September 15, 2008. A total of 20,859 students from 41 schools from all over UAE participated in this contest, of which 17 students attained Sastra Pratibha and 84 students achieved the A+ category.
A felicitation ceremony was held recently to honour the students who had excelled in Sastra Pratibha Contest 2008 at Dubai Men’s College (Higher Colleges of Technology).
Talmiz Ahmed, Ambassador of India to U.A.E was the Chief Guest. Padmasree Dr. Vijay P. Bhatkar, Chairman E.T.H. Research Lab India, and Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty, CEO of NMC Group of Companies were the guests of honour. The 17 Toppers were honoured with Certificates, Medals and Mementos by the Indian Ambassador.
SIF-UAE is a voluntary organization composing of professionals in the fields of science and technology and education, prominent members of the business community and philanthropists in UAE. SIF-UAE on its educational front is associated with National Science Movement of India (NSM), popularly known as Vijnana Bharati. Inspired by the profound thought of INDIA VISION 2020 BY the former President of India and most celebrated Scientist, Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, SIF-UAE is formed to popularize Science and Technology among the youngsters in UAE.
Allister is also an accomplished Pianist. He is an active member of St. Joseph’s Church Choir, Abu Dhabi for the last 5 years. He has completed 8th Grade Piano (Theory & Practical) Examination from The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM), U.K.
Allister is the proud son of Donald Frank and Annette D’Silva of Kulshekar, Mangalore origin based in Abu Dhabi.
