Mangaluru: Lok Sabha election dates - degree students confused

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Voting for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections will be held on April 18 and 23 in the state of Karnataka. However, the examinations for the degree students are also being held on the same dates. This has created confusion among the degree students.

There is a possibility that the degree examinations in the colleges that are affiliated to Mangalore University may begin in the second week of April. However, the certain autonomous colleges of the coastal belt have already announced the timetable for the degree examinations and they will be held from April 10 to 30.

The main issue is faced by students of outstation districts. As the voting will be held on April 23 for the second phase, the students of outstation districts are in a dilemma whether they should go to their native places for voting or not. Some colleges have already scheduled examinations on April 23. The students are urging the concerned authorities to change the date of the examinations that have been fixed on April 23.

Voting for the Lok Sabha elections will be held in two phases in the state of Karnataka. In the first phase, voting will be held in 14 constituencies including Mangaluru and Udupi-Chikkamagaluru constituencies on April 18. In the second phase the voting will be held for rest of the 14 constituencies including Uttara Kannada and Shivamogga.
