To mark this occasion, IIPP has chosen its ‘Star of the Year’ – an award to recognize individuals who have made commendable contribution to the city of Mangalore.
IIPP has chosen a very eminent person for its first ‘Star of the Year’- a man who has changed the face of media in Mangalore - Walter Nandalike, the man behind Daijiworld.com. Walter with his journalistic endeavor has reached out to millions across the globe. He has given the Mangalorean community the priceless gift of Daijiworld.com.
Walter Nandalike has done every Mangalorean proud by his achievements in the field of web journalism. Being the creator of this popular website, he has not only been very successful but has also not forgotten his foothold of reaching out to people with his humane touch. And this virtue makes him an even more deserving recipient of this award.
Daijiworld.com did not restrict itself just to web media but slowly ventured into broadband television. News bulletins and entertainment programmes from Mangalore were made available on the website free of cost.
Further up the rung, Daijiworld Media Pvt Ltd, the brainchild of Walter will bring out its English Weekly Tabloid, and it is expected to hit the stands by the third week of Feb, 2009. With this the strength of Daijiworld media is expected grow many folds . The web , visual and print media will create strong awareness in society and it is going to make big impact on pressing issues of society.
The web portal attracts people from all walks of life without the boundaries of caste, religion and language and is widely accepted by all the communities around the globe. As result, Walter has been honored by all community organizations worldwide.
36-year-old Walter Nandalike, currently Editor-in-chief and Managing director of Daijiworld, resides in Dubai and he is happily married to Wilma and blessed with two kids Cema (11) and Samantha (6) .
Daijiworld has a registered office in Mangalore and franchise office in Udupi. Over 24 people work full time to keep the network running and over 200 honorary members and freelances support it worldwide
Daijiworld.com rose to great heights but Walter continued to do his part for society. Keeping monetary gains aside, the website has been able to restore lives of many by providing financial assistance to deserving cases in times of need, encouraging and creating educational opportunities among the poor, taking up causes for the betterment of society and even reuniting families.
