Mangalore, Feb 18: Gopal B Hosur took charge as the inspector general of police (IGP) of Western Range at his office here on Wednesday February 18.

Speaking to media persons after taking charge from IGP Ashit Prasad, IGP Gopal Hosur said that the police department is ready to face naxalism, terrorism, and communal conspiracy. “Merely one per cent of people create tension in society. Stringent action will be taken against violators of the law of the land. Moral policing is violation of law”, he said.

He said that the police department would never show any kind of soft policy towards terrorism. Hosur added that he would hold discussions with anti-naxal forces to control the naxal menace. The department will also curb the activities of the underworld.

Hosur had joined the police department as deputy superintendent of police in Arasikere in 1984. He has served as superintendent of police in the anti-Veerappan special squad in 1994.

Mr. Hosrur, Welcome and pleasant stay in Manglore. Mangalore is the only city in the nation having multi-ethnic and peaceful community. She is a country inside the country. She has been adversly noted globally as the frequent vulnerable region proving unfortunely this 1% has got upper hand over the entire community, posing a great challenge. Take mercilessly whatever the steps deemed to be necessary. Our prayers with you. Good luck.

Welcome to Mr. Gopal Hosur.... There is lot of corruption in the police departrment itself. Nothing will move without money Even a signature for No object for passport renewal also required money in Dakshina Kannada. Police have not gained the faith of the people...instead of implimenting policy they are targeting people just for bribe.... Hope Mr. Gopal Hosur can handle the situation in right manner and regain the faith of the people....Wish our new IGP all the best and god may help him in his work

While we welcome Mr. Hosur, we cannot forget the good that been done by Mr. Ashit Prasad. Being a man of principles he did his best - and did not bend to the BJP Government due to which his transfer came earlier than was due. Ever since the BJP Govt has come to power, Mangalore seems to be getting bad to worse - let us look forward to Mr. Hosur and see if he can rectify the situation. Good luck to you Sir.

Goodluck and congratulations on assuming charge as IGP., of western Region, Mangaluru. Your first and best observation that only one percent people are troublemakers is ok. But deal with this one percent with iron hand and boldly irrspective of their political affiliations, whether they are in power or otherwise and restore the credibility of the police force and also Mangloreans to the world over. All the Best.

I take this opportunity to extend a warm and hearty welcome to IGP. Gopal Hasur to the Port City of Mangalore. Mangalore in the past was a Haven of Peace but the situation has changed and it is by no means an easy job for a Police Officer to keep the situation under control in the present circumstances. Mr. Ashit Prasad has done his best and won the admiration of people.

I understand that Mr. Gopal Hasur is also a person of name and fame and with his years of experience and fund of knowledge he will do a fine job in the Districts of D.K. N.K. Udupi and Chickmagalur. Joe Gonsalves

Welcome Mr. Hosur and good luck. All eyes are on you with lot of expectations and some element of uncertainity as well. One of the greatest loss in recent happenings in Mangalore is the loss of faith of common man in the police, and they are justified in it. Police have acted in a partisan manner, whatever may be the reason. Now your actions will determine whetehre the lost faith will be restored. Wish you good luck once again.

Welcome Mr. Hosur !. One does not know what is the meaning of "communal conspiracy". Most peace-loving people would welcome your inclusion of moral policing as against law. Well said and we are waiting to see if it will also be done. All the best !

Dear Sir, Welcome on board. Hope you are not Agent of any political party and pure servant of Indian community. We are really surprised SP Sathish comment regarding any arrest will lead to communal voilance. The above statement will not make any sense, while justice has to be made. Please look into all possibilites to calm the communal and unnecessary tension in mangalore, as you have rightly said 1% of society members will create. We wish you all the best in your new assignment and almighty God will give you strenght and courage to bring back DK  back on track.

Well said Sir: Department is ready to face naxalism, terrorism, and communal conspiracy. “Merely one per cent of people create tension in society. Stringent action will be taken against violators of the law of the land. Moral policing is violation of law”,

It is true but politicians in Mangalore are transferring the good police to jungles of Karnataka. We wish you success in fight against the crime. Damage has been done to women’s feeling of self-respect many parents of students from outside the state hinder to take admission for their wards in Mangalore a flourishing hub. Tourism has the impact this situation in Mangalore will create more opportunity for our neighboring states Kerala and Goa but we will be left with only dictators who will oppose the overall development.

No doubt, almost all police personnel take charge with good intentions. However, at the end of their tenure, briefing almost suffocates them. Who is not pleased to serve the politicians and expect the right promotion in the right region? Gain is material. Rest is all immaterial. Every time we sincerely wish every success to all of them and yet eager to find if 1% exists out of 100.

The police should not show any kind of soft policy towards communalism first because this is where terrorism takes its birth.i beleive the guardians of law should change their agenda.
