Mangalore: Daiji Dubai Drama Competition - Goans Perform `Tension Free'

Mangalore, Feb 18: Mangaloreans witnessed an altogether different concept of Konkani drama on Wednesday, February 18 at the Don Bosco Hall, when the Goan troupe Sri Nagesh Maharudr performed `Tension Free' drama, the fifth entry in the Daiji Dubai All India Konkani drama competition.

Though the Mangaloreans found it a bit difficult to grasp the Goan dialect, they thoroughly enjoyed the acting and presentation as  it gave them a new experience of Goan Konkani theater.


Titus Noronha, convenor of the drama competition welcomed the gathering.  Sachin Naik and Satyam Satarkar,  members of the troupe from Goa, lit the lamp and inaugurated the day's proceedings.  Melvyn Rodrigues, founder member of Daiji Dubai was present on the dais.

The play was written and directed by Rajay Pawar.

While Prashant Satarkar played the role of Dada, Ramdas Nageshkar played Manju,  Amogh Budkuley was Ekko and Guruprasad Nayak was Peplo.

Priyanka Shirodkar played Kali and Mayur Naik played Sunder.  Then there were Sunny Naik as Helper and Rajay Pawar as Somnath.

The last and final entry in the drama competition `Ratnagiricho Sardar' will be enacted by `Udenti Kalakar' on Thursday, February 19.

    Mangalorean actors have to study and learn a lot from the Goan play Tension Free,which stole the entire show.Mangalorean dramas are far behind.Its an eye opener to each and every drama actor of Mangalore.

    It was an oportunity to savour a professional Goan Konkani Drama.Acting specially of Manju and Somanath was thrilling.Kali, Dada,Ekko,Peplo,Sunder and even the Helper acted superbly.The stage setting was superb. Every little details were well looked after.Great effort by entire Troupe. I wish you all the best.

    We Mangaloreans are definitely has to learn certain good things from this troupe.Let it be Story Writing, Directing, Stage Setting or Acting. Kudos Daiji Dubai, I hope you will CONTINUE this competetion every year.

    One of the best Konkani Drama ever I seen, the language should have been only Konkani not Hindi mix, since its a "KONKANI NATAK SPORDO" & of course its a competition. Lots to learn from these actors.
