Mangalore: IIPP Honours Walter Nandalike with ' Star of the Year' Title

Mangalore. Feb 21: Editor- in- chief of Daijiworld.com, Walter Nandalike was honoured as the 'Star of the Year' by International Institute for Public Policy (IIPP) in a gala function held at Mangalore Club on Friday February 20.
Max Rasquinha, founder-chairman of IIPP and his wife Jessy Rasquinha handed over mementos and citation to Walter Nandalike, duly felicitating him and recalling the commendable job rendered by Nandalike in the field of web journalism through daijiworld.com.
The gathering congratulated Walter with a huge round of applause and the musicians transformed the award ceremony into a function worth cherishing, with the rendering of great music with aplomb.
Max Rasquinha said it took eight years to honour the man behind daijiworld.com. “Walter Nandalike has been linking Mangalore to the whole world, duly following the policy of providing unbiased information. I am extremely happy with Walter's work in the field of web communication, throughout this term of eight years. IIPP is a think-tank institution formed by individuals and it was formed last year,” he explained.
Walter, responding to the honour conferred on him, said it was his pleasure and privilege to be honoured by IIPP chaired by Max Rasquinha. He added, it was not his individual efforts behind the success of Daijiworld, but the entire team of daijiworld in Mangalore as well as abroad. He said that award encourages him to take future challenges in the media.
Max Rasquinha also celebrated his 70th birthday on this occasion. Jessy Rasquinha and the couple’s two sons were present. Regional chairman of Toastmasters Dr C K Ballal, and Sofiya Zacharias from the Winners Club wished him with words of wisdom.
Konkani songs and dances were the special attractions of the programme. Renowned singer Wilfy Rebimbus made the programme more melodious.
Melvyn Rodrigues, director- operations, Daijiworld and Daijiworld Weekly editor Hemacharya, Daijidubai founder convener Dayan D'Souza, Daiji Rang Mandhir member Michael Castelino were also honoured by the IIPP with mementos for their contribution for the success of daijiworld.
The programme started with the patriotic song,' Vande Mataram'. Fr Denzil Lobo also sang a prayer on the occasion.
Leslie Rego, known for his dynamic compering skills for any occasion wonderfully compered the programme.
