Mangalore: Youth Cong Plans to File Case Against Mayor Hosabettu

Deccan Herald

Mangalore, Feb 24: Youth Congress District President Bondala Jagannath Shetty has said that the party is contemplating over filing cases against Mangalore Mayor Ganesh Hosabettu and others in Delhi and Hyderabad. Addressing media persons here on Monday, he said cases would be filed against the statements of  Hosabettu “who had said that the Union Minister Renuka Chowdhury is mentally imbalanced”.

Bondala Jagannath Shetty

It can be mentioned here that Mayor Hosabettu and others had appealed the court to ask the police to file a case against Chowdhury on her statements of “Mangalore has been Talibanised” etc in the aftermath of pub attack by Sri Rama Sene activists in January, as per which Mangalore Rural Police registered an FIR against the Union Minister on February 20.

Shetty alleged that Hosabettu himself is responsible for the pub attack incident.“The Mayor should have controlled the unlicensed pubs functioning in the city. If such pubs are attacked and if the general public are harmed, he is directly responsible for the same,” he said.

Instead of filing case against Chowdhury, Hosabettu should have thought in how many criminal cases he had involved.

“By filing case against Chowdhury, the BJP has continued its anti-women policy,” he criticised.

Alleging that advocate P P Hegde is getting “cheap mileage in the pretext of filing a case against a woman”, Shetty said, if  Hegde is so concerned about the unconstitutional acts, let him fight against such acts committed by BJP leaders themselves. “The BJP has dishonoured the nation by hoisting the National Flag in the midnight,” he complained. However, when it was brought into his notice that the Union government itself had instructed to hoist National Flag during midnight on August 14 to commemorate the golden jubilee of Indian independence, he said he was not aware of the order.

District Youth Congress president-elect Arun, office bearers T K Sudheer, Herbert and Abhilash were present in the press meet.

this is a clear statement that congress is very jealous about the BJP''s rule in mangalore..congress just cant tolerate the developments taking place in mangalore by the BJP. Bjp has to state the congress under one single statement- DO OR DIE, surely congress would directly choose the secont option- DIE coz it cant DO it..

There is no use in filing cases on these issues, instead we have to form an citizen's forum to fight against corruption, poor civic amenities, bad roads, frequent power cuts and spending tax payers money to the whims and fancies of politicians.

Advocate Padma Prasad Hegde tries to get cheap mileage by supporting and defending the goondas of Bhajrang Dal,Srirama Sene and other communal activists.Instead of defending the poor and exploited P.P.Hegde is defending murderers and hooligans and criminals in Mangalore. He might have earned lot of money, but he has destroyed peace in Mangalore.Mr.Jagannath should file a case against Ganesh Hosabettu, the rubber stamp Mayor of BJP.

Good work Mr.Shetty. Please go ahead. The Mayor surely calls for more troubles than any solution. Instead of arresting the people involved, he creates indiscipline in the area. Its high time the politicians take a serious note that "public is smarter than them". We are with you. You may start the signature campaign if you need. All the best!

In my view this is too late to react bondala.U should acted before they plan to sue Renuka, where were you are since last 2 weeks. Now the issue is getting worse then you wake up.This is the first reason people reject you in assembly polls. So my suggestion to you act immediately with the issue to get popularity like Ganesh hosabettu ,atleast we can remember both of you as useless leaders for in future.

Mr.Hosabettu during his tenure as Mayor has not done any good work to the people of Mangalore. He hardly command any respect from Mangaloreans. Hence he can not represent them in filing a suit.Where was he when churches, women in a pub and girls in the bus were attacked. As a first citizen of Mangalore he should have stood against these atrocities. True, he can not. They are his own men. He require them in fighting future elections.

It is a genuine move taken by Jagannath Shetty. A real leader should fight against the wrong doings in the peace-loving society. Let us all mangaloreans stand by him and support his proposed action against Ganesh hosabettu who acted according to the tune of Safron Brigade.

When a point comes to discussion/debate, there could be (1) for (2) against (3)neutral stands on it. Now, those who oppose this gentleman for what he personally is, think - do you have time to leave your job/responsiblity and take up this cause instead ? Than being mute spectator, don't you think its good to sign in favour of what he is fighting for ? If you still think of opposing him for personal ego, don't you think you are voting in favour of the attacks by doing that ? Think again - united we stand, divided we fall. No politician is a saint. They all take their part of advantage by public loot. Why can't we take the advantage by using them to lead in cases like this ?

This is a very good move against the goondas of BJP - hosa bettu and PP Hegde. They should be brought to justice for indulging and provoking violence in Mangalore. As Hosabettu in the capacity of Mayor has fialed to protect Mangalorean citizens.

Dear Bondala, First of all please go back to your constituency Puttur where you lost your election inspite of a major split in BJP. Vertually BJP had 2 candidate Mallika Prasad and rebel Shakunthala Shetty. But still you could not win with congress ticket. That means you need to do a lot in your area to gain the popularity and prepare yourself for the next level.

Mangalore politics is not your cup of tea. There are lot of other leaders to tackle this issue.do something in your limits.

Utter rubbish all this is. These people are fighting like kids. They are doing this for publicity and political gain. No body in India is concerned of politicians like Hosabettu and Shetty so they now have an issue and are trying to cash in fame and pubilcity from it.

But at whose cost is all this happening. Remember what the speaker said these politicians are not fit to be in parliamaent and the public should not vote them in power. The same applies to these good for nothing politicians. I pity carol and Charles for seconding such moves.

I totally agree with the Youth Congress District President. While its the Mayor's legal responsibility to maintaining peace and harmony in the district, paradoxically, he is encouraging those who caused unrest by filing case against a minister who spoke in support of those suffered. I am sure there will be several people backing you in this attempt. Good Luck !

Mr. Shetty please go ahead. This man Mr. Ganesh Hosabettu did not have guts to file the case as a Mayor !! He filed the case in his personal capacity. Had he filed the case in his capacity as a Mayor..... today he would have been out of the party may be !! Does not do the any good to civilians and involved only in dirty politics!!!! This kind of actions from politicians will not be accepted anymore. Punish them by votes, if not judicially!
