M’lore: Administration Papers over Crack - Suspends Liquor Licence of Amnesia Pub

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Feb 27: Amnesia Pub located in Balmatta Road in the city, which hit national and international headlines after alleged Srirama Sene activists raided the pub and manhandled some lady customers recently, will not be able to serve liquor to its customers henceforth. The excise department has suspended the lenience granted to it till the conclusion of an inquiry ordered by the department.

After Hindu Yuva Sene first raked up the issue of the illegal functioning of the pub, a delegation deputed by National Commission for Women led by Nirmala Venkatesh had pointed out that the pub did not possess proper licence and that it failed to protect its women customers. After Venkatesh issued directions to the policemen and the district administration before leaving, to ensure that the women visiting various pubs and bars of the district are extended adequate protection, the district excise commissioner had served notices to 34 bars cum restaurants of the district.

In response, various bars and restaurants have confirmed that they continue to strictly adhere to the licence terms. The correctness of these replies are now being verified by the officers of the excise department.

After suspending the licence of Amnesia Pub, the excise department officials said that the licence will be cancelled if an inquiry ordered into it reveals that the pub had violated the terms of the licence issued to it.  A representative of Amnesia Pub in the meantime, questioned the propriety of singling out their unit alone, pointing out that many of the bars and restaurants in the district hold CL-7 licences just like Amnesia, and almost all of them cater to other customers too, without restricting the liquor supply to guests staying in their hotels alone.

Excise department officials are reportedly aware of this fact. It has been noted that the dance floors that existed in most of the bars including Amnesia, have since been removed as they too are violations of the permits granted to them.

Well,, This is all politics.. infact " POOR POLITICS" Nirmala Venkatesh has forgotten that she is also a Women. To make her realise she should be handled the way the girls in the pub were treated. Corruption is so much affecting India that it took 60 years just to publish "INDIA IS SHINING" / INCREDIBLE INDIA and so on. India needs couple of centuries to become Super power and if corruption is not seperated from Politics its Impossible that India will shine.... and specially there are some Uncultured Uncivilised barbarians in our society who plot all these and dont allow Mangalore to Develop. BJP is a Worst Party i have ever seen. Sadananda Gowda should be Slapped when these guys attack women.

Where is our beloved Vijay Mallya ? Does yeddi know about Mallya ? If so, then he has to ban his business. Oh no. This cannot happen Mr. Lobo. You cant say that. Governments revenue solely depends on Liquor business. If public fund is fat, then our BJP politicians can EAT more money after sucking a Kingfisher STRONG. Take bottles to home and drink with your family. Do not fight silly in pubs and bars. Got that dear ladies and young boys ?

If the excise department singles out Amnesia, canceling its license for what they called violation of the license granted, officials also must do the same with other Amnesia-type of Bars and Restaurants, in Mangalore and all over Karnataka. They cannot be so harsh with only Amnesia, whereas, other pubs continue to function on similar style, bribing these corrupt officials and their political bosses. No election is won without serving liquor in India ! I would see a transparent action IF THEY CANCEL LICENSES OF ALL HINDU OWNERS OF PUBS and BARS. Since BJP is pro-hindu and hates pub culture, it must go ahead with canceling licenses of those Bars and Pubs which are owned by Hindus, as drinking alcohol is not Indian culture and Hindus are not supposed to drink. Can BJP government do it? If they cannot, then I would call Yeddi a Hypocrite. Why showing bias in his administration ? Why can't the same rule apply to all the Bars/pubs ? If he does it, then we can believe that he stands for JUSTCIE. Or else he is just another goonda,

ULTA CHOR KOTWAL KO DHANTE. The police and excise have defiled their hands by taking corruption from the pubs and from the public. (If haptha is not taken how these will feed politicians for obtaining transfers). Action must be taken against the excise department for taking money from the pub owners. Why not cancelled licence earlier and why now?

Why don't we hear any news on what happened to the crazy ram sene people who attacked the women ? We are basically justifying their horrendous crime by canceling licenses. Why doe's the law enforcement step up and do their jobs which is protecting people and not meddle around in politics or be biased ?
