Udupi, Feb 27: `The root cause of the infamous pub incident at Mangalore was the deep rooted gender bias in India' said Rahul Bose famous art-film actor, screen writer, film director and social activist on Friday February 27.

Rahul was interacting with the media at a press conference in the South- Karnataka's Manipal town on the sidelines of the Article 19 - a media fest organised by the students of the Manipal Institute of Communications on .

While just about to leave the press conference, a student reporter remarked about the 'Pink Chaddi' campaign and in response to that, perhaps giving his own suggestion of how intensly to protest, Rahul said "If I were a woman, I would go to Mangalore and have a drink in a pub"

Earlier in the press conference, Rahul while speaking on the issue of activism in the life of college youth went on to mention that one of the biggest issues that concerns him is the issue of gender bias in the country.

Rahul also mentioned that he broke his nose almost a month ago and has had corrective surgery done for it. He also reconfirmed his decision of not being able to play Rugby for the Indian Rugby team anymore.

He was full of praise for the student community taking up issues of national and global concern. This particular event in which he is to take part is a march to create awareness about saving electricity and avoiding its reckless consumption.

When women groups attacked a bar and hit men with slippers and sandals even sticks in Assam where  were you Mr Rahul.  If you cannot fight justice favourably, then you must restrain your comments. It exposes your ignorance on gendre bias.

What Rahul Bose said was right.  What these Sangh parivar people are doing will only harm the Hindu culture .But the fact is majority of hindus do not share their views. Hence we still have a secular culture in India.

Nagesh Nayak, why do you have to compare India to Pakistan? If you have to compare, then compare India to other advanced countries, not the countries like Pakistan or the Mid-East Countries. We will never advance if we compare ourselves to Pakistan. I fully agree with Rahul that there is gender bias in India. Earlier it was restricted to the North Indian states, thanks to the socalled religious or nationalist groups who call themselves protectors of Indian culture, the menance has now spread to the South too. Since only a miniscule percentage of Indians belong to these groups, their motives can be defeated by us easily, however everyone has to be united against them.

Mr.Nayak, does two WRONGS make one RIGHT and are you trying to justify the molestation of women in mangalore, because there are much worse things happening in pakistan. What makes you so angry when someone is raising his voice against attacks on the modesty of women ,are you in favor of domestic violence.
