Abu Dhabi: Bunts Dubai, Young Stars Win Maiden KCO Trophies

Abu Dhabi, Feb 27: Bunts Dubai and Young Stars - Nakre, Dubai were the winners of K C O’s maiden Throw Ball and Volley Ball tournament respectively, held at Abu Dhabi Indian School Grounds on Friday, February 27.
The whole day event attracted 8 Volley Ball and 7 Throw Ball teams from all over the UAE.
The fiercely contested tournament was played in the true sporting spirit and demonstrated the organizational capabilities of KCO, and proved that they are the one of the top most associations of the UAE.
Earlier, Leo Rodrigues, KCO president and veteran philanthropist welcomed the teams and the spectators and announced that this tournament will be held on annual basis and thanked for the support from the participating teams.
Ronald Pinto and Dorothy Pinto were the guests of honour. In his presidential speech, Pinto lauded the efforts of KCO in promoting social, cultural and sporting activities.
After the ceremonial oath, as symbol of friendship white Doves and colourful balloons were released declaring the tournament open.
As a mark of respect a minute of silence was observed on the sad demise of K.C.O's founder Member Raymond D'Souza.
The games were played in 4 different grounds which was a treat to watch as the teams competed with each other for the coveted trophy.
Another highlight of the event was the surprise visit of ace comedian Johnny Lever of Bollywood, who entertained the spectators as well as the teams by his unique humour. His mere presence uplifted the glamour of the event

The Winners
Throw Ball
The final was played between Bunts Dubai and Mangalore Konkans and with closely contested game. Bunts emerged the ultimate winners lifting the coveted KCO Rolling Trophy.
Volley Ball
The final was played between Star One A and Young Stars Nakre and the young Stars made a clean scoop over their rivals beating them convincingly lifting KCO Volley Ball Rolling Trophy.

The tournament was also attended by B R Shetty CEO of NMC Group of Companies, Richard D’Souza Treasurer of Abu Dhabi Indian school and Sarvotham Shetty - President of Karnataka Sangha - Abu Dhabi
The event was sponsored by Hysna International, Texas Car Rentals, Noble Marine Metals and Falcon Motors. The sponsors were honoured prior to prize distribution.
All the teams played a superb game, braving the hot and humid day under the scorching sun and it is indeed a feather in the cap of KCO, their tremendous effort and team work under the leadership of their experienced president Leo Rodrigues and the hard work of all the members must be commended.
