Mangalore, Mar 3:
Dr A Subrahmanyeshwar Rao took charge as the superintendent of police (SP) of Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday, March 3.

He has been posted to the district in place of N Sateesh Kumar, who has been transferred to Bidar.

Speaking to the media after assuming charge, Dr A S Rao said that he would give priority to maintaining law and order in the district and is committed to making use of scientific and advanced technology in the department to improve its functioning. “Being accessible and maintaining transparency will be the other two issues that are on top of my agenda. I want to ensure that common people feel connected to the police department. They should be able to get information that they might be in need of from the department as and when required," he explained.

“As at present, we are focused at ensuring a peaceful election besides putting tabs on the activities of criminals, miscreants and anti- social elements etc., who take part in criminal and illegal activities,” he said.

Rao, a native of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh, earlier worked in Puttur as an assistant superintendent of police and as SP in Udupi district.

I extend a very warm welcome to Mangalore. I read your statement in the Deccan Herald and was very happy to know that you will advising your colleagues to be more courteous and people-friendly, because very recently I had a slightly bad experience at one of the police stations in Mangalore. I hope you will convert the words into deeds. Please see to it that your colleagues who are in-charge of police station must be really people-friendly and should not side with un-wanted people due to pressure or otherwise. Thanks and wish you good luck in your new assignment

Dakshina Kannada was once known as the land of peace loving people. Certain elements have sown the seeds of hatred, which has grown to such an extent of creating mistrust among people. We want you sir, to root out this evil from our District without showing any favour and without succumbing to the pressures of 'so called leaders of our Districts.

Dear  Mr Rao, please do not beat up innocent women and nuns. Do not treat well the goons . Do not say that you fear arresting goons because of communal tension . Please be transparent and come out clean in delivering justice to the victims and punishing the goons.

Congradulations and best wishes to Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao. Mangalore is thirsting for rightious upright police force. Mangalore needs unity and harmony between all the communities. A comman man and women can freely walk without any favor or fear. When the admin. department fails then goondas will take the admin in thier hand and proclaim they are the raj makers, saying they help the police and protect society, such people are not bothered or worried about main concern of daily needs like electricity or proper road system or clean the society. If the law breakers can take good works in the soceity providing a daily meal to the beggers or give supportive hand to orphans by good deeds then they will be honored. I hope Dr. A.S.Rao will do good works and discharge his duty  without fear or any favor to any political pressure or any other organisation. Good luck and best wishes to Dr. Rao. Your good action's result must speak and remember mangalorions.
