Mangalore, Mar 7:
Thirty-year-old Roshan Ferrao, an employee of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Limited (KPTCL), Attavar here, has been selected to be a part of the Indian Bodybuilding team that is set to participate in the Asia Pacific Bodybuilding Championship to be held at Christchurch, New Zealand, from  April 10 to April 12.

Roshan Ferrao is a parishioner of Our Lady of Queen of the Universe church, Ranipura near here.  He joined gymnasium in the year 1999 and has been training at Zen Gym, Tokkottu near here.  He joined KPTCL here during 1998 and was confirmed in service in 2000 because of his sporting credentials.  Since then, he has been working as a junior assistant in the accounts department in the office of the superintending engineer, located at Attavar here. He is the son of Canute and Dulcine Ferrao couple.

Roshan did his initial schooling at his parish school in Ranipura and SSLC at Rosario High School here.

Mangalorean Roshan is one of the most promising bodybuilders and has bagged a gold medal in Asia Pacific Bodybuilding Championship held in New Zealand during 2000.  He had also bagged X rank in the Mr World competition that was held in Germany in 2000, VI rank in Mr Universe competition held in France in 2001, VII rank in Mr Universe competitions held in Spain, second place in Indo-Pak Peace and Friendship Bodybuilding Championship held in Islamabad, in 2004.  Besides, he had also represented Mr World Bodybuilding Championship held in Bangalore.  He was the recipient of Bharath Udaya in 1999, Bharath Kishore in 2000, Bharath Shresta in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003.  He was Bharath Shree four times and Vidyuth Shree for five times.

In the recent All-India Inter State Electricity Board’s Tournament held at Raipur, Chattisgarh, from Friday February 20 to Sunday February 22, Roshan Ferrao bagged the gold.

Although his employer KPTCL bears the cost of air ticket to and fro Christchurch, New Zealand, he has to bear the cost of boarding and transport for six days at Christchurch, which he finds it difficult to bear.  He has urged the sports enthusiasts and philanthropists to contribute their mite for his cause, so that he would cherish the timely help in his lifetime.  For those who wish to send your demand drafts or cheques, may do so to:

According to my view, Mr. Roshan is the most promising body builder after Mr. World title holder -Raymond. Considering his height, physique and the well developed and controlled muscles, I am sure he is having 100% chance of winning the Title in the current competition. Let the donors generously contribute to the cause and for blooming this talent in the International level and to bring laurels to our country.

Let the donors in the society be generous to this great talent, Roshan Ferrao. He is a icon of Mangalore and I hope he will surely get the aid and will succeed in the championships. Sports in our nation is ruined by the Cricket Mania. Sponsorers need to help these real talents too. Congratulations to KPTCL for providing him Air Tickets.

It is totally disbeliving that a member of the Indian Body building team that is set to participate in the Asia Pacific Bodybuilding Championship to be held at Christchurch, New Zealand, has to pay for the board and transport for six days. Since this is a Indian Body building team, even his employer does not have to bear the cost of the air tickets. Some clarification on this subject will be much appreciated.
