Mangalore: Sangh Parivar Activists Allegedly Threaten Journalist

Daijiworld Media Network—Mangalore (CN)

Mangalore, Mar 12: B A Samvartha, a journalist with ‘The Hindu’, has allegedly been threatened by Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) and Bajrang Dal activists on Wednesday March 11.

Samvartha was on duty at around 11:30 am in front of the Hindu Samajothsava office at Bunts Hostel when some members of the two organizations surrounded him and asked him to leave the place immediately.

They allegedly threatened to break his limbs if he reported ‘against Hindutva’.

“If you want to be in Mangalore, then you better be with us”, they warned him.

Samvartha has already lodged a complaint at Kadri police station and sought necessary protection. He has also demanded appropriate legal action against the culprits.

Copies of the complaint have been sent to the superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada, all the media offices, district in-charge minister, local legislator, home minister, Press Council of India, and to the Dakshina Kannada Working Journalists’ Association.

The entire world knows that who has started terrorism in India. One need not take names. In modern India it was only after "Somnath se AYodhya tak" Rath yatra blood started spilling on the road. A person with a little knowledge of politics & communalism will agree on this. The truth cannot be denied, it is not a political comment which can be denied anytime saying that the press is bias against a particular party. When somebody uses a abusive language on this site people can easily make out who is terrorist & who is not.

If my Comments made you sick, then I am glad M.Bhat Mumbai, because I intended to do so. I know my childish innocence and truth are bugging you. You support the rogue elements like SRS and then blame their behaviour on Islamists and New Life. Even a donkey in India knows that terrorism in its present kind too was born on the day L.K Advani began his rath yatra. The agony of India began that day. If this truth makes you laugh more, it's ok with me. After you are finished with you laughing read my comments once again and introspect. Maybe your eyes and ears will open then.

So I don't think they are real daring people, and are goondas who are known in the city. I advise Sangh Parivar activists to come single and challenge the innocent in the city......

Once upon a time South Kanara was most peaceful place in entire India. Their politeness, mannerism and behaviour was identical and people all over in India used to recognise them as "South kanarians". Our culture and vision was not hampered by Muslim seer's from the north nor by the Christian missionaries from Italy or elsewhere. Our culture and our pride was damaged by people like Muthaliks and Yudiurappa's who secretely instilled hatred in young and innocent minds and today Mangalore is paying for that. Now allmost all people have realised who is spreading hatred and deviding the soceity. It is only after BJP rule in Karnataka Mangalore has beocome a worst place to live in. One has to understand that economy of Mangalore is developed only due to outside people who have come here for education or Medical facilities who also eat here and shop!!. If BJP tries to vitiate the community through their ambassadors BD and RS who always provoke violence, I am sure day is not far for civil war on the streets and even police may not control the total unrest and disgust burning inside the people. Morever outside people may stop sending their wards to Mangalore for education or medical help as nowadays all states have competitve education centres and medical facilities better than Mangalore. Politician's dont dream of making Mangalore to Gujrath as circumstances and temperments of individuals are quite different in these places. Loka Sabha election is fast approaching now people have to decide to whom they have to vote. I am sure people of Mangalore will reject all these rowdiysheeter elements and bring back glory to our sweet Mangalore.

It's sad to know that the wing called Vishwa Hindu Parishad and R.S.S. are doing these kind of illegal and non-Hindu activities. Hindu religion teaches us peace and non-violence then how these goons are saying theirself they are the members of V.H.P.? I worked for RSS couple of years and at that time our ideology was to protect our country from the enimies. I request VHP AND RSS chief to look into the matter and confirm if these goons really belong to these organizations or not.

Unfortunately for you, me and my ilk who are in the majority are able to see through your game plan.Your comments are utter nonsense and nothing else. The peace in Mangalore has been destroyed since the day the BJP government took office and peace will return the moment this government is kicked out. Both you and your ilk and me and my ilk know this truth. Unfortunately you do not want to accept it.

Where are the people who love peace and justice? Why are the intellectuals keeping quiet? Is it that people have no time to fight against for all these social injustice? or is it the soceity has become selfish or thinking why should I bother? Mind you, if this is the attitude, then one day when one of our sons, daughters, brothers and sisters are attacked, it will be too late. Do not bring in religious color, but touch these people with human color which is joy, peace and love.

Speak up Mangaloreans NOW!! Reminds me the following quote from Pastor Niemoeller. "In Germany they first came for the Communists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me — and by that time no one was left to speak up."
