Udupi: Bharath Co-Op Bank Opens First-ever Branch in Town

Udupi, Mar 12: The 32nd branch of the Bharath Co-Operative Bank (Mumbai), run under the aegis of Billlava Association, Mumbai, was inaugurated at the ground floor of Vasuki Building near the taluk office and behind the district court in Udupi. It will offer services to the people of the coast, whose long-cherished dream of many years will be coming true with opening of its branch in Udupi.
The branch was inaugurated by Jaya C Suvarna, president of National Billava Federation and Billava Association, Mumbai and former working president and the president of Bharath Co-Operative Bank, by cutting the ribbon.
Vidwan Sadashiv Shanthi officiated vastu puja, ganahoma, satyanarayana mahapuje which were attended by Dhananjay Anchan and Shashika D Anchan couple. Bank chairman Vasudev R Kotian launched the bank services by lighting the lamp. Deputy president of the Bank, Advocate Rohini J Salian dedicated the banking services such as lockers to the public service.
Speaking on the occasion Jaya C Suvarna said "It is a proud moment to open our first-ever brank here in Udupi. Our Bank which was primarily set up for the benefit of Kannadigas working and living in Mumbai, has now stepped into our own native land. Adhering to cultural exclusiveness and moral values is the prime motto of Bharath Bank. We have strived hard not only to nourish but continue our original traditions and culture. I take pride in dedicating this new branch of ours to the Tuluva-Kannadigas who have been our backbone for years now. We would like to offer best of our services to our native land so that Bharath Bank grows above the barriers of land, language and culture. Blending innovation with technology in order to get the confidence of our esteemed customers, we are determined to go ahead in the track of development."
Chairman Vasudev, who too addressed the august gathering, said that the trusted confidence of the customers is the driving force of the bank. "This new branch is indeed an 'Akshaya Patre' for the rural masses. We will concentrate more on our rural customers in order to emancipate the rural condition of the 'Land of Lord Parashurama," he added.
Bank directors M B Kukkan, Y Nagesh, Pushpalatha N Salian, L V Amin, Raja V Salian, Jyothi K Suvarna, M B Sanil, Shekhar M Kotian, Mohan G Poojary, Chandrashekhar S Poojary, Shankar D Poojary, Jagannath V Kotian, S K Kotian, N Nithyanand, Bhaskar M Salian, Ratan Umesh Sanil, Rohit M Suvarna and Chief Executive Officer and Chief General Manager J C Poojary and others were present at the inagural.
Highest Amount of Deposits in Short Period:
As soon as the new branch was thrown open to the service, a large number of customers opened their accounts in the branch. Within an hour of the opening 1,000 accounts were opened bringing in a record deposit of Rs 10 lac. This was indeed a mirror to the days ahead.
North to South:
Many of the banks that took their birth in the South have spread wings to the North over the years with phenomenal growth. But the Bharath Co-operative Bank which was established outside the state boundaries has planted its foot in South after spreading its fragrance all around.
Congress leader Felix A D'Souza, BJP leaders Ramchander Bykampady, K P Jagadish Adhikari, social workers Dharmapal U Devadiga, Vishwanath U Mada, Thonse Sanjeev Poojary, new customers, well-wishers, who were present on the occasion wished all that is best to the bank.
