Mangalore Girl Rashmi Kunder Wins Second Place in 'Boogie-Woogie'

Mangalore, Mar 13: Rashmi Kunder, a fourth standard student of Lady Hill St Aloysius English Medium School here, has through her excellent dancing skills, emerged as the runner-up in the highly-popular dancing talent hunt programme, 'Boogie-Woogie' being aired by the Sony TV. This programme is being telecast every Friday and Saturday between 8 and 9 pm.
Rashmi, the only girl from South India to be selected, has already done her parents and the city proud through excellent performances in various programmes, explained advocate Kallige Taranath Shetty, addressing a press conference here on Thursday March 12.
Rashmi was selected from out of 4,500 aspirants who appeared for the trials held in Bangalore. The final round of the competition, which has been going on since over three months, was completed on Wednesday. For the first time, a girl from Karnataka has risen to the position of runner-up in a competitive show organized by a national channel, he described.
Rashmi's father and ex-corporator Kamalaksha Kunder, who was present, said that he withdrew his daughter from one of the earlier Kannada TV programme, after the organizers sought to make corrections in marks later to favour a candidate of their choice. He expressed his gratefulness to the school governing council and teachers, who have assured wholehearted support to see that Rashmi's education does not suffer because of her protracted absence.
Rashmi's choreographers Eshwar Kodikal and Navin Shetty of Expression Dance Institute and mother Bharati were present.
