Ballari, Apr 10: Following allegations of rampant use of money power ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the Income tax department conducted raids on BJP and the Congress leaders staying at a private hotel in Ballari.
Close aides of BJP Lok Sabha candidate Devendrappa's son and some Congress leaders staying at Nakshatra hotel in the city were raided. The officials have seized few important documents during the raid.
BJP leader Devendrappa tried to enter the hotel and questioned the group of 6 IT officials and election officers. However, the officials barred his entry into the hotel.
The officials also raided ex-Congress leader Anil Lad. "I came from Bengaluru to attend party workers meet. When officials raided I was inside the bathroom. The officials have issued a notice and asked to appear for questioning," he said.
