PM Modi's Balakot strike remarks during poll campaign - EC seeks report

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SR)

New Delhi, Apr 10: The Election Commission has taken notice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on asking first-time voters to dedicate their vote to those who carried out the air strike in Balakot.

The poll panel sources said on Tuesday that the chief electoral officer of Maharashtra has been asked to submit a report at the earliest.

While addressing a rally in Latur in Maharashtra, Modi had said, "Can your first vote be dedicated to those who carried out the air strike."

"I want to tell the first-time voters: can your first vote be dedicated to the veer jawans (valiant soldiers) who carried out the air strike in Pakistan). Can your first vote be dedicated to the veer shaheed (brave martyrs) of Pulwama (terror attack)," he had asked.

The poll panel has filed the report in context as per an EC advisory issued last month asking parties to refrain from involving actions of the armed forces in political propaganda.

"All parties/candidates are advised that their campaigners/candidates should desist, as part of their election campaigning, from indulging in any political propaganda involving activities of defence forces," the commission had said on March 19.

Like you, 3.5 crore Indians (NRI and PIO) are outside India, because there are no jobs in the country. I too was outside once. 50% of the population goes hungry in the night, in India. In the happiness quotient, India is behind Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan, as per UN. Please come to enjoy the benefits here, as I am enjoying now.

    Anoop,
What you said is very much true. But all this will not get into the heads of educated blind bhakts. It is like "Bains ke samne bhansuri bajana".
For bhakts all infrastructure, institutes of higher education, universities, defence forces, financial institutions, ports and airports, hospitals like AIIMS, public sector undertakings, railways, power stations, bridges and dams...list goes on and on...all these fell off the sky on 26th May 2014.

BJP candidates and leaders are openly rejecting guidelines from EC and no action is being taken agaisnt them. I think moral conduct is applicable for non bjp parties only. I smell something fishy in this practice from EC. For B JP leaders, EC sends love letter and for non bjp leaders they are served warning letter and jail.

Can your first vote be dedicated to those who carried out the air strike? Yes, we can. But by not voting for the party that was in power when 40 or more of our police/soldiers were killed. Its a government failure. We want to vote you again to award your failure? Our soldiers yes, but not the crooked politicians.

First things first. Let me clarify that I am not from Congress team.
Secondly, to your question, Congress did not use the sacrifices and bravery for its personal use at least. India has won battles against Pakistan under congress rule. But Mr. Modi using retaliatory attack by brave soldiers for personal gains.

By the way why are you always comparing youeself to the Congress? You claim to be far superior to all other parties, right?

The person whom you call Pappu is far far better to your top most leaders of BJp. At least Rahul is genuine. He does not make his mother stand in the bank queue during demonetization to gain public sympathy. Can you imagine a 90 year old woman in a queue? Has anyone seen his mother visiting the bank after that?

Some days back, around 32 days after Balakot, Modi told in an election meeting, that Pakistan was still counting dead bodies. It has come in papers here sarcastically, since the editor asked whether Pakistan kept all dead bodies in Morgue and started counting after one month. People laugh with such a statement from a PM.
