Ballari, Apr 10: In a shameful incident, a 60-year-old man allegedly raped a minor girl at Nagenahalli village in Ballari district.

The accused, Chandrashekhar is a resident of Nagenahalli. The age of the victim is 14 years.

Chandrashekhar is a BJP activist and also a former taluk panchayat member. It is alleged that Chandrashekhar was raping the minor victim on a continuous basis.

Parents of the victim used to run a tea shop which Chandrashekhar frequently visited. He also made the victim to bring him tea and eatables through which he developed contact with her. With the pretext of giving money to the victim, Chandrashekhar used to rape her.

The victim, who complained of sickness, was taken to doctor. The doctors disclosed the fact that the victim is four months pregnant. After the incident came to light, village leaders tried to make compromise between the family of the victim and accused Chandrashekhar.

POCSO case has been registered against Chandrashekhar at Hospet rural police station.

Chandrashekhar is now absconding. The victim has been sent to rehabilitation centre.
