Mangaluru: Alia Orchid Care to hold four-day exhibition-cum-sale at Kadri Park from Apr 13

Mangaluru, Apr 10: Alia Orchid Care will organise a four-day orchid exhibition-cum- sale at Kadri Park exhibition ground from April 13 to 16, informed the organisers in a press meet on Wednesday, April 10.

Alia Orchid Care is a registered horticultural firm under the horticulture department of the government of Karnataka since 2013. They are the first and the only registered licensed importers of live plants in Dakshina Kannada district from 2016 and obtained plant quarantine license in 2017. They have been importing tissue cultures small orchid plants from Thailand and growing them to flowering stage to make the plants get adapted to local temperature.



On this special event, they have chosen to exhibit the beautiful and bold colors of the peacock and highlight them throughout the show. These are decorated by using more than 1,200 orchid flower spikes/stems. There will be a lucky visitor draw held every evening who will be rewarded with potted orchid plant.

The objective of the event is to:

-Exhibit various orchid hybrids and species that can be grown successfully in our temperature
-Method of growing the orchids and their presentation
-Training on growing orchids, Anthoriums and Adeniums
-Encouraging organic methods in cultivation to save earth
-Methods of preparing organic nutrients
-Sale of various varieties orchid, dwarf Anthuriumand multi-petal rosy Adeniums at lowest prices
-Training sessions on April 14, 15 and 16 at 10:30 am at the venue
-There will be around 5,000 orchid plants and about 1000 Anthurium plants and about 500 Adenium plants available for display and sales
-Beautiful, unique clay orchid pots and neck (hooji) specially designed bytraditional clay potters from Kanyakumari are used for floral decoration. These will be sold on reservation for taking away soon after the show.

Queenie Lasrado, Alia Orchid Care, Bejai, and Sachin S Patavardhan, research scholar, Laboratory of Applied Biology, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) were present.
