Udupi: Kasturba Medical College Celebrates Annual Day

Udupi, Mar 19: The students of Kasturba Medical College (KMC), Manipal, celebrated their annual day on Wednesday March 18.
The event was attended by students, faculty members, and officials of Manipal University.
“The field of medicine is facing the danger of professionalism in contemporary days, but it is the duty of the doctors to be patient-centered. Their main aim should be patient care and improving the patient-doctor relationship,” said Dr Donald E Melnick, president, National Board of Medicinal Examiners, USA, who was the chief guest at the event.
H S Ballal, vice-chancellor, Manipal University said, “We are dedicated to giving maximum support to the university students for their overall development. We provide the best infrastructure in India for intellectual minds to flourish and I request to all the students of the university to utilize the facilities provided by the university. The university is always there to help the students.”
Prominent dignitaries present on the occasion included Ramdas Pai, Chancellor, Dr Rajshekhran P Warrier, vice- chancellor Dr G K Prabhu, registrar, Dr Pushpa Kini, director, student affairs, and M V Kamath, veteran journalist and director, Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC).
The annual college report for 2008 was presented by Dr P Sripati Rao, dean, KMC, Manipal, while the KMC student council report was presented by Sumeet Soni, president, student council, KMC.
Awards were given to students, distinguished alumni, and for excellence in teaching. Gold medals were also awarded to some including Undamatla Ramya Krishna, Teffy Hose, Dr Jimu Jacob John, and Dr Anil K.
A colorful entertainment programme was also presented by the students and faculty members of KMC.
