Mangalore: Concrete Slab Collapses in Under-construction House Injuring Six

Mangalore, Mar 20: Six workers were injured after the concrete slab that was being laid by them collapsed at an under-construction house near Vamanjur in the city, on Friday March 20.
The labourers who were injured in the incident have been identified as Krishnappa (45), Hariyappa Saphaliga (50), Chennamma (45), who are locals, and women labourers Periyamma ( 20), Marimuttu (25) and Chinnamma (30), who are from Kallkurchi village in Veelupuram district, Tamil Nadu state. Although the injuries suffered by them are not critical, a couple of them are suspected to have suffered fractures.
The site of the accident is a house under construction. The injured labourers, along with more than 20 others, were engaged in the roof concrete work. The work was taken up in the morning and the concreted portion collapsed after about an hour since the work started.
The workers have been admitted into a private hospital here, where they are undergoing treatment.
The labourers were working for contractor Laxmanan. The house belonged to a resident of Kulshekar, who is a hotel owner.
Firemen form the fire brigade, who rushed the spot in time, took necessary and timely action in rescuing workers trapped inside the debris and steel rods.
