Mangalore: Merciless KSRTC Bus Conductor Throws Out  Disabled Passenger

Mangalore; Mar. 21. In a merciless and inhuman act, the  bus conductor of  Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation(KSRTC)  forcibly pushed down  a  handicapped person from the bus,  earning the wrath of the local people at  Padil in the city on Saturday, March 21.

Sharif, a 30- year-old from Chikmagalur, who had to face the ignonimity of being physically pushed out of the bus,  was  seen seeking help from the passersby  to be able to  move  towards the bus stop. Later, he explained his plight  to a woman  and  a man who carried him  to the bus stop. Blood was seen oozing out his knees which were covered with  bandage.

Shariff does not have his legs below the knee portion. He was dropped off a little away from the Padil bus stand by the ruthless conductor. He said, he lost his legs in an earlier accident.

He had been to the city for getting  treatment for his knee wounds at the local  Wenlock Hospital  in the city. He said, he picked the bus at the main KSRTC bus stand in Bejai here. The conductor forced him to  get down  from the  bus a little further from Padil bus stop, Shariff confessed.

Sharif said, the conductor  pushed out of the bus by holding his shirt collar and all the time hurling choicest abuses towards him. The conductor  had in the first place,  asked him  to  get  down, and  later  claimed that he could not travel alone without being escorted by any one, he explained.

"I  came to the hospital through  KSRTC bus. So far,  no one else  treated me like this and I am travelling through buses for long  but this is first such experience for me," Shariff overtaken with insult and agony,  said.

Every one treats me as friend and  some of the bus  conductors  do not  demand even the bus fare from me, he added.   The  doctor  in the  Wenlock Hospital  had given him  Rs. 200  as travel expenses, after coming to know that Shariff did not have enough money to travel back, he revealed.

The people who gathered at the spot condemned the action of the conductor, which they termed as merciless and cruel..They demanded from  the KSRTC  traffic controller who  came to spot,  to  suspend the conductor concerned  from duty, pending inquiry.

Later he was sent  through  another  KSRTC bus to  Chikmagalur  from Padil with the help of  locals.  The local corporator, who arrived at the  spot after  getting information about the incident,  provided him financial help.

Guys, leave the conductor alone. He had enough already. God knows what goes on in that conductor's brain at this moment! He might be wishing he were Shariff without leg and same thing happened to him to draw attention of everybody. Shariff, I am sorry for what happened with you. Do not worry, people are with you. How sad - every religion quarrels with the other even though all know none of the Gods are capable enough to get Sheriff's leg back!!! What for are you killing each other you god forsaken ideots?

All great Indians including me learn a painful lesson from this accident. handicapped what matters-what they not human beings? how lucky we are. God has created us perfect. The person did this cruel act has to pay the price for it. He will suffer like hell.

Please people cut that conductor's leg and he will come to know the inner feelings of a wounded person.  Please my one request with everybody help those helpless handicapped people and public must punish very badly those who do crimes.  Nothing is going happen from our laws and orders.  Even murderers will easily survive from punishment. Really this accident will bring tears

Few weeks back similar incident had occurred involving a private city bus. Many showed frustration over private bus owners and suggested to have government to take over from private bus owners. Now is there anyone who is frustraded with the attitude of government bus owner (KSRTC). It is easy to blame than to take the blame.

This is so unbearable. We should show pity on the disabled and not treat them like dirt. The conductor should be thankful to God for he is not disabled. The bus drivers should STOP racing on the roads. Many a times it is so difficult to balance specially when passengers are standing and the driver is driving ruthlessly.

It has become a habit for the conductor to say to the passengers when getting down "bega bega". Those who are aged and others having knee/leg problem it is so difficult to get down fast.

Good to hear that a corporator and a ex Hindu Yuva Sena leader Mohan padil helping a muslim. This shows his kind heartedness. May god bless him. Also these incidents would be common if the nationalisation of city buses would take place coz it would be under government control no one to question the conductor or driver.

Does anyone knows where does he lives, who are his parents and family. Whenever there is crime against humanity let us follow this and let the world know his whole family. I know his family may ot be responsible but he should be responsible for his family. This will make the criminal think twice before doing it. Together......let us make their family famous. The reasons could be plenty like constant friction between communities, economic hardships, social problems etc. but in the process we are losing our true self as Mangaloreans. We are losing the Mangalorean spirit that is caring, fun loving and toletent of others. I have lived in various parts of India and abroad and everywhere I went, Mangaloreans commanded respect because of their broadmindedness and helping nature. Really a inhuman thing what had happened to the commuter. It is the duty and responsibility of the driver and conductor to reach the passenger safely to his/her destination. File a case against the conductor and keep him under suspension and let him pay all legal fees from his pocket. Same was in Mumbai with BEST. Very careless staff. Now the new general manager introduced a strict rule, those who make accident or mistake have to pay all legal fees from their pocket. Since then the drivers are become very careful and the accidents are reduced.

Send this conductor to jail for a month and terminate his employment. No matter what religion the handicap person belongs to, it is our moral obligation to help such people.

I appeal to KSRTC employees to make sure their colleague has been punished and made to apologise publically to the poor man. Authorities time to act and make sure mangalore does not get a worse name for the mindless nonsense of few. No reason is good enough for the conductor to misbehave. I repeat No reason and No excuses should be entertained.

when cruel people outnumber good people natural disasters take place, so good and humble citizens have to come forward and controll the country or else every one will face the wrath of GOD including the silent spectators no matter how kind they are.

Man is defined as a social, rational animal. But some men are still ferocious "animals", no chance of refining them. But not all the animals are ferocious! We can definitely avoid them, since we know their nature. But "MAN", shows his true nature at his pleasure, so avoiding him... no chance.

What can I comment on this kind of inhuman acts from a human to a handicapped human? Suppose the person was blind what the conductor will do or his own relation what might have been the reactions from the conductor? May God bless those assisted the handicapped person in the aftermath incident.
