Doha: Mangalore Cricket Club Celebrates Int Women's Day

Doha, Mar 22: On 20th March 2009 at the Prestige Restaurant, in Doha, MCC marked the happening of yet another successful event, the celebration of International Women’s Day.  The event being an all ladies event was different from all the past events of MCC. The Celebration began at 5.00 pm, Melinda Fernandes, Youth Coordinator was the host of the evening.

Reena Castelino, Cultural Secretary welcomed the gathering. Clara Castelino recited a poem that defined a Woman.  Riana Pinto, Joint Secretary briefed about the History of Women’s Day.  Neelam Lobo a long time resident of Doha was honored during the celebration for her exceptional support to the Mangalorean Community in Qatar, Amitha D’Souza from the editorial team introduced Neelam and Jessy Mendonca the joint secretary honored and presented her with a memento on behalf of MCC.  Neelam thanked MCC for honoring her and for all the support that MCC gave her while she represented the Mangalorean Community at the Parish Council of the Church of our Lady of Rosary.























Dr. Charmaine D’Souza, the chief guest for the evening gave a wonderful presentation about Women’s Health. The presentation was well enjoyed by all and was very educative.  Sunitha D’Souza presented Dr. Charmaine with a memento as a token of appreciation, Newsletter Editor Joyce Alvares proposed the vote of Thanks and conducted spot games. The Ladies gathered requested for similar talks on Health to the teenage boys and girls of the Community.  To mark the event mementoes were distributed to all the ladies who were present for the celebration.

Women Office Bearers of MCC would like to thank all those involved in making this event happen and run on a smooth note.

    Dear Ladies, Well done and its good to know that as mangaloreans we are doing a lot for the community and raising our awareness about woman and their importance in our society, by gathering to celebrate the International Woman's Day.
