Mangaluru, Apr 23: Power-lifter from the city, Pradeep Kumar Acharya, bagged two silver medals at the Asian Powerlifting Championship that was held in Hong Kong from April 21 to 26.

Pradeep Kumar Acharya bagged medal in bench-press category and for overall performance. He took part in the 74 kg category and went on to perform with squat 260 kg, bench-press 190 kg, deadlift 260 kg and lifting overall weight of 710 kg.

Pradeep, a resident of Urwa Stores in the city has been practicing power-lifting at Balanjaneya Gymnasium under the guidance of Sathish Kumar Kudroli.

Last month Pradeep had bagged two gold medals and second best lifter award at Asia Pacific Equipped Powerlifting Championship 2019 which was held at Gold Coast in Australia from March 12 to 17.

Pradeep Kumar Acharya has bagged gold medal at the Commonwealth Games held at South Africa in the year 2017. In the year 2018-19, he bagged gold medals in four different national level sports events. He bagged silver medal at Asian Bench-press championship held at Dubai in the year 2018.
