Abu Dhabi – March 27: A Dynamic Leader and an extraordinary personality, Y. Sudhir Kumar Shetty hailing from Mangalore, was elected as the new President of Abu Dhabi’s prestigious India Social & Culture Centre (ISCC) during Annual General Body Meeting held at the ISCC Premises last evening.
The results of the election were announced during the early hours of this morning. Shetty won with 731 votes.
Soft spoken and humble Sudhir was elected almost unanimously defeating his close rival in a keenly contested election held during the annual general body meeting attended by large number of members.
Sudhir has contributed immensely to the India Social & Cultural Centre, Abu Dhabi, in his relationship which spans over 14 years, during which he has witnessed the empowerment of ISCC from a humble representation of Indian community to one of its leading voices in the UAE and beyond. He has contributed in many ways to ISCC and its members as a corporate representative, member, as well as a well wisher including that of Chief Coordinator, Technical Committee of ISCC for two years during the construction & completion of the new infrastructure and premises.
Sudhir is the pride of Mangalore, a “people’s man” has captured the hearts of everyone who had an association with him irrespective of caste, creed and communities. He is known for his humble and helpful nature and is accessible to all through his humane touch.
Sudhir is an able, competent, dedicated and committed individual. As his enviable track record of social contribution shows, he is best suited to take ISC to pinnacle of glory. He is the current C.E.O. of UAE Exchange Centre which has branches all over the gulf and worldwide.
With his election to the coveted post, his dynamic leadership and knowledge ISCC will surely be raised to new heights and will take the centre to a new era with the brand new state of art premises with excellent facilities just opened recently.
Sudhir revealed that his primary objective is to strategically plan and evaluate the future course of action, whereby ISCC is recognized not just in UAE, but worldwide as a mascot of the great Indian community, achieving greater frontiers. “Focus has to be set on greater viability of operations and on meeting present commitments effectively. It takes nothing less than a corporate approach, wherein you plan, strategize, execute, and review every progressive step towards these goals” he said..
