New Delhi, Apr 25: Tempers are always on the rise during election season and taunts and counters are not new during campaigns by political leaders. Most of the politicians take poll period as a free pass to verbally abuse their opponents but unfortunately, this election season it has stooped to all time low, especially towards woman.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi pulled Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman into the debate, when speaking against PM Modi and said that the PM was scared of him and is hiding behind a woman, Azam Khan’s 72-hour ban for using sexist and highly derogatory remarks about Jaya Prada followed by his son calling her "Anarkali"; were a few to point out.

Recently, Congress leader Ajay Singh also made a utterly disparaging comment against BJP leader Riti Pathak while addressing the people in Sidhi Lok Sabha constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

He said, “Pathak ji came here during the last election. She got a ticket from BJP. There was a Modi wave. Everyone fell for their promise of 15 lakh and thus she became an MP.”

While blaming her for not coming back or contributing to her constituency after becoming the Member of Parliament Singh said, “To bhaiya unka to ajmaye chuke. Vo theek maal nahi ba”(She has been tested and she is not a good product).

The opposition has condemned the Congress leader for the wrong choice of word terming it as sexist and derogatory. BJP spokesman Rajneesh Agarwal strongly objected to Singh's use of words and said that Singh’s language cannot be accepted by a civilized society and it shows his mentality towards women.
