Chitradurga, Mar 31: Independent MLA and state youth services and sports minister Goolihatti Shekar came down heavily on chief minister B S Yeddyurappa for not caring to consult him on issues concerning the district. He said he was repentant about his decision to extend support to Yeddyurappa for putting the BJP-led government in the saddle, when the BJP was short of numbers.
"After Yeddyurappa sought my support for his chief ministership and on being approached by Karumakar Reddy and Janardhan Reddy, I decided to support Yeddyurappa's aspirations to become chief minister. If I had refused to support him, he would not have become the chief minister. Even though I am a cabinet rank minister now, I have no say in any issues including transfers in the district," Shekhar rued.
Speaking to newsmen at Hosadurga near here on Sunday March 29, the minister said, he was disappointed about not being consulted before fielding Janardhan Swamy, a non-resident Indian from Chitradurga Lok Sabha constituency by the BJP. None of the three ministers from the district were consulted before choosing Swamy from this constituency, he claimed.
It may be recalled that Shekhar had surrendered his car and thrown away the file after the chief minister, who was approached at his residence, had refused to pay heed to his request for affecting transfer of an official. The CM had pacified him later. He also claimed, he was able get his work done through the government easily during the Kumaraswamy regime, even though he was not a minister then.
