Mangalore, Apr 5: “When a poets tries to write in a new manner, it becomes a great poem”, said H Dundiraj, well-known Kannada poet, at the ‘Kavi Sangama’ held at Orchid Art Gallery at Balmatta on Saturday April 4. 

“The poets who chose a new way and wrote in a new style, have given good poems to our world of literature”, said, Dundiraj in his presidential address at the function organized by Kavita Trust and Kallachchu Prakashana. 




























 

Dundiraj inaugurated the event by scattering flower petals on a flower pot. He also read some of his poems on the occasion.  

Five poets from Kannada and five from Konkani read out their poems. The Kannada poets had written poems about Ugadi. 

Andrew D’Cunha, C G S Taccode, Catherine Rodrigues, Dimple Fernandes, and Alwy Carmelite were the five Konkani poets while Sudha Nagesh, Geetha Konkody, Shivananda Karkera, B Krishna Pai, and Mahesh R Nayak were from Kannada.   

The programme at Orchid Art Gallery had an artistic touch and the guests and poets mentioned a new idea for reading out the poems. Concepta Fernades and Titus Noronha compered the programme. Melvyn Rodrigues of the Kavita Trust was also present.

    Poetry can quietly spread peace and harmony amongst masses. The efforts and initiatives taken to bring together poets of two languages are very commendable. Kannada literature field is like a vast ocean with immense treasure in it. These kinds of events can help languages benefit mutually.

    Nice to hear the Kavi Sangama. A great efforts from Kavitha Trust. All the best to all creactive poets. there will be a Kavi Sangama of worldwide poets in New Delhi. Hope and pray that our poets will get a chance to show thier thier skills there to show our rich language. all the best

    The assimilation and combination from two different languages is a great concept, it will contribute towards the development of literature in general. The key point is to realize where we stand and it will open the door to learn from each other.
