Mangalore, Apr 7: The former Union minister and senior journalist Arun Shourie on Tuesday April 7 said that the forthcoming Lok Sabha election is a crucial one because of a very delicate situation India has been facing in the last five years.
Addressing the media persons at the Gold Finch Hotel here he said that the country requires a leadership that is dedicated to the national interests. India would confront with dangerous situations if the present United Progressive Alliance government comes to power again.
"India is not serious about economy and internal security. The destructive activities in China, Nepal and Pakistan and their consequences in our country call for urgent need for national security. People should elect a government which is very much dedicated to standards," he added. He also ridiculed that it is hard to imagine leaders like Mayawathi, Deve Gowda, Mulayam Singh Yadav representing India in meets like G-20.
Shourie pointed out that there should not be any kind of hate speech. Commenting on BJP leader Varun Gandhi’s alleged hate speech he said, "I have heard that his speech has been doctored. Election commission does not advice the candidates who have been charged with criminal cases. But it has shown special interest in Varun's case."
Talking about the Third Front he termed it as an alliance of greed. "It has neither shame nor religion," he said.
MLC Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandary, president, district committee of BJP were present at the press meet.
