Mangalore: City Police Nab Motor Cycle Borne Serial Chain Snatchers

Mangalore, Apr 8: The city police on Tuesday April 7 busted a network of motor cycle borne youths who were involved with snatching of gold chains from the necks of unsuspecting, lonely women in and around the city and its outskirts, since the past some weeks. 









The city policemen, led by Panambur circle inspector Valentine D’Souza and Panambur sub inspector Pramod Kumar P, along with Kavoor deputy sub inspector Anantapadmanabha, crime department sub inspector Gopal Kotapady, police personnel Purushottam, Vijayaraj, Krishna B K, Damodar, Chandrahas, Rajesh Alva and Isaac managed to arrest eight youngsters who were engaged in the crime of snatching the valuables from lonely woman at Kavoor, Kadri, Ekkur, Kulshekar, Bondel, Derebail, Bajpe, Kandavar and other places, on Tuesday morning. 
 
The arrested persons have been identified as Rayappa Mysore, Arun Rego Neermarga, Ganesh Achary Bakrebail, Nishant Shetty Neermarga, Yatish Mallya Kodikal, Suresh Uppinangady, Srinivas Kundapur and Francis.  The police personnel also recovered ten gold chains including six Mangal Sutras, weighing 211 grams and two motor cycles, altogether worth Rs 3.40 lac from the accused.  The accused will be produced in the court on Wednesday April 8 morning.
 
The operation against the chain snatchers was guided by Panambur sub division DySP Suresh Naidu, SP Subramanyeshwar Rao and ASP Dilip R.
 
With this, city police feel, they have put an end to the menace of snail snatchers whose activities had created lot of problems for the people and the department alike.
