Money seized from Congress candidate's vehicle


Lucknow, May 9 (IANS): A sum of Rs 24 lakh, reportedly belonging to Raj Kishore Singh, the Congress candidate from Basti in Uttar Pradesh, was seized from a vehicle in Basti on Thursday.

The SUV carried a pass issued in the name of Raj Kishore Singh and officials said that the money was apparently being taken for distribution among voters.

Basti Superintendent of Police M.P. Chaturvedi, who headed the flying squad, said two persons who were in the vehicle had been arrested and were being interrogated.

Basti goes to the polls on May 12.
