Kenya, May 13: The stage of Kannada cultural performance under the leadership of Karkala based Anekere Raj Kamath and Yogini Prabhu in Kenya on Saturday witnessed dances by Kenya boys to the song of late Dr Rajkumar.
Kannada culture was unveiled in the office of Indian Ambassador spreading the aroma of the language. People from several countries including Kenya commended the tradition and beauty of the soil.
A cultural exchange of south Indian states and a food exhibition was held at the office of the Indian Ambassador here last Saturday. In the first such programme, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka states were to show their specialties and culture.
The mouths of people gathered there watered after looking at the diverse food preparations. Kannadigas settled in Kenya were overjoyed. People and ambassadors of other countries relished Bisibelebath, Lemon rice Nippattu, Mosaranna, coastal delicacies Neeru Dose, Chicken curry and coconut Holige.
Boys from Kenya danced to the songs by late Kannada actor Dr Rajkumar. Karkala based Raj Kamath sang Raj Kumar’s song ‘Huttidare Kannada Nadalli Huttabeku’ to the dance and applause by Kenya boys.
Raj Kamath who went to Kenya four years ago looking for a job, is active in Kannada cultural association there. He has tried to teach Kannada to his colleagues belonging to other countries. He also speaks to them in Kannada. Raj Kamath who is a singer has great respect for late Rajkumar. Therefore, he has taught Kannada to Kenya boys and entertains them with Kannada songs and dances. Yogini Prabhu, a Karnataka based lady joins him in such activities. It is a matter of pride that the culture of Kannada has reached to greater heights by the cultural exchange platform.
